ADRIAN

Kenna didn't take too long to get ready. Rafe and I watched her every move till she stood in front of us with the baggy top and sweatpants. Fuck, she never made something comfortable look so damn sexy.

Rafe agreed, even though he wanted to see her in one of my tops instead of the one she was wearing. The mere thought of her wearing something of mine, which I know would look massive on her sounded like a sure thing to do when we were mated.

I was about to start noting which tops to give her when she cleared her throat, pulling me back to her. "Shall we go downstairs?"

I nodded, knowing there was no point in denying what was about to happen.

Catrina was the one who knocked on the door and told me Maddox was here. Not only that, but he also seemed on edge which had the hairs on my neck stand to attention till I turned around to Kenna, who instantly calmed me.

Kenna and I walked to the door, then headed down the stairs where Maddox was sitting on the chair with Lewis and Catrina darted around the room, watching her. Not all intimating at all, three massive werewolves watching my mate, which was now unsettling me to the core.

Kenna moves into the room, looking between each one of them till she lets out a shaky breath and takes a seat near Maddox.

My best friend smiled at her. "Hey Kenna." He stares for a moment before he continued. "I know this is weird and this is nothing on you, but I would like to know more about you working for James and the other man, he works with."

"Dylan," she asked, which made Maddox look at her and then nod.

Rafe growled at the name but stayed close by and knew he needed to listen so there weren't any smart-ass remarks.

"Yes, him," he said, looking toward me with a pointed look, like he knew where my head went. I still wanted to kill the asshole. Maddox looked back at her and smiled. "What can you tell me?"

Kenna stared at him, then looked at Catrina before she turned back and spoke to him. "I told Catrina something about what happened, but I don't." She stopped and then looked down to her hands. "When I was there, I started out as a secretary till Bailey took over the job. We worked together for a few weeks which explains how we became friends. Till James started to ask me to sit in on meetings. Many times, it was things I didn't understand and only had to take notes of what was said."

"Things like you do for me," Maddox asked, which only made Kenna nod, but her head stayed down.

"That only happened for a while till I was moved around different departments," she said with a sigh and then looked up at him. "I don't know why I was moved around a lot, but I learned some things along the way."

"They didn't want to work with a human," Rafe growled in my head, which made sense but that doesn't explain what the hell is going on.

Kenna looked over at me and then sighed. "I was moved to Dylan's floor, which is where everyone in the department was to design something that would be efficient to make the workplace bearable and to keep safe from any interference."

What the hell?

What the hell did she mean interference?

Kenna looked away, which only made Rafe whine slightly till she spoke again. "I had no idea what to do. No one spoke to me, but I did overhear things which never made any sense to me."

"Like what?" Maddox asked, sounding curious to know where this was going.

"Well, like rogues," she said, which made each one of us tense at the word. But it didn't go unnoticed when she looked around at us, which made her frown. "What are rogues? I heard it around here too, which is not a common word to hear."
