KENNA

My mouth was dry as Adrian stared at me. All I could do was nod. I watched as he placed his foot on the bottom step of the ladder and went up. My eyes trailed over his frame till it landed on his ass. Jesus, it was firm. He was tall, had to be six foot something.

"Instead of looking at my ass, Angel," he said, pulling me from my thoughts, and I looked up at him with wide eyes. I felt my cheeks burn. "Can you make me a cup of coffee?" he asked, grinning. "I shouldn't be too long up here."

I said nothing and walked away from the ladder while still feeling slightly embarrassed about being caught by him for checking out his ass.

I walked back into my home, closed the door, and leaned on it for support. Closing my eyes, I wanted to punch myself. How the hell did he know I was up the ladder? The fact I fell off the ladder as I only went up four steps was embarrassing, but to have Adrian catch me was even worse.

The thought of landing in his arms. He held me tight. I could feel every muscle that the guy had. He was rock hard and built of muscle. I felt tingles ripple through me, which send my pussy into a dirty little minx. She wanted him in a bad way.

Shaking my head to get the dirty images that were forming about Adrian away, I opened my eyes and moved into the kitchen. I flicked on the kettle and got everything ready to make his coffee.

I glanced outside, wondering where the hell he was beforehand. I mean, I saw him go inside his house. He mentioned asking if I wanted logs, but he had none with him.

The kettle came to a boil, and I poured the hot water into the mug over the coffee granules. I went into the fridge and grabbed the milk. I poured a little in and returned the milk when I was done. I went back to the coffee and stirred.

My mind was racing over what the hell I was going to do. I couldn't afford to have a handyman here to help me, especially with the work this place needs done.

I gripped the coffee mug and turned around just as Adrian entered the house. I placed the mug on the table and leaned back on the kitchen counter as my eyes went to him.

Adrian came in and stopped, taking in the place, and frowned. "You need my help with the roof and in here," he said, his eyes returning to me.

I shook my head. "Only the roof," I muttered but motioned to the side. "I will sort out this mess by myself."

My eyes went to the other side, knowing that I left everything out from my last project. But my eyes landed back on Adrian, who was looking where I was looking at. "What are you trying to build there?" he asked, looking back at me as he walked closer to the table and grabbed his coffee. He took a sip.

My eyes stayed glued to him for a moment, but realizing I needed to speak, I cleared my throat and looked back at the mess. "I was trying to make the bookcase I bought," I sighed. "But I lost patience with it last night."

Adrian chuckled. "I can do it for you," he asked, making me look at him. I furrowed my eyebrows together. "Uh, no."

Adrian stared at me, and his face went hard. "You don't like asking for help, do you, Angel?" he asked, which sent my core throbbing with what he called me.

I shook my head, remembering I needed to keep this conversation going. "I don't," I muttered. "I have been on my own for years. I'm used to doing everything myself."

Adrian's face softened, but I continued. I hated people feeling sorry for me. "Don't act like that," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

Adrian placed the mug back down and sighed. "Act like what?" he asked with a frown.
