Pt. 1
♡
Albedo had warned you that in the months to come Durin's growing strength would cause issues for Mondstadt. He warned you that this period of your peace would be interrupted by the possible death of the creature who watched grow. You..didn't take the news well, it might have sparked an argument at first...
"What do you mean..? There has to be some other way." You stated with certainty, Albedo seemed surprised by your tone, setting his glass down on his desk as he turned to face you. "I am afraid not, he has absorbed the body of my imposter, and with that, he has gained significant intelligence." He began.
"But the little dragon is still in there somewhere! I know it," you stated with confidence, crossing your arms with a scowl on your face. He stared at you for a moment, only to sigh and shake his head "You are right, he is. But the only information I can give you at this moment is that the original Durin will die."
He was straightforward and blunt, staring back at you as you did your best not to cry as you held eye contact. "He-- you can't tell me why he'll die? How do you know that he will? You're so sure, tell me!" You demanded, looking away and biting your tongue if it helped prevent any tears, it didn't..but it was worth the attempt.
He felt bad, leaving you in the dark like this, he stepped forward and held your face, gloved thumb wiping away your tears. "Do not cry..if I could tell you, I would." he hummed and leaned forward to kiss the bridge of your nose, gentle touch, and soft words only made you crumble faster, nuzzling into his touch and leaning onto him.
He wrapped his arms around you and hummed, kissing the side of your head when you set your chin on his shoulder. "I can't make any promises..but he won't truly be gone," he whispered, the soft assurance was nice, though you didn't truly know what he meant. "I love you Albedo, I'm sorry.." you whispered.
He hummed, leaning back against his back and pulling you close with his hand rubbing your back, "I love you too, just relax..let me finish my notes, and we'll return home for the night." he said, his voice as soothing as a lullaby. You stepped back, sniffled, and nodded "Sounds good.." he smiled and walked around his desk, patting the arm of the chair you usually occupied here in his office beside his, or his lap.
You smiled and followed, sitting down in your chair and leaning back with a long shaky sigh, wiping your eyes as you stared at the hardwood desk. Albedo was scribbling down in his notebook, he seemed to be drawing out a detailed circular diagram of human anatomy, busying himself with pencil and paper.
As the two of you went silent, just the sound of his pencil scraping against the paper and quiet breathing. You slouched in your chair, fighting against your sleepiness until you eventually let your eyes close...Albedo looked over, frowning to himself as he closed the notebook, and opened the hidden hollow space in his desk, placing the notebook inside before closing it and standing up.
"Unfortunately dear, I cannot carry you all the way home." He spoke softly with a smile, his face was always nice to wake up to regardless of the situation. "Huh...oh, sorry, didn't mean to nod off." You smiled back and stood up and held his arm when it was offered to you.
"Don't worry, we'll rest plenty once we're home." He hummed and squeezed your hand before leading you out of his office. He knew and understood this was the last night of good sleep you were probably going to get for a while, considering how tomorrow the most important part of the six-month plan would kick off sometime the next day.
He wanted you to rest well and deep, to pamper you a little if it meant you wouldn't get upset when you found out how in the dark you were kept. "I didn't realize how late it'd gotten, no wonder I fell asleep so easily." You hummed, looking at the dark sky as the stars twinkled.
He nodded, unlocking the door and holding it open for you, you slipped your arm out of his and walked inside, taking off your shoes and jacket before slumping, letting out a yawn, and waiting for Albedo to follow you upstairs.
You reached the bed long before him since he made an effort to change into something more comfortable and cozy. Because by the time he came to join you in bed, you were out cold before he had the chance to give you a goodnight kiss..not that being asleep would stop him.
"I hope you sleep well, dream of me, my love." He whispered, lifting your hand to kiss your ring before pulling you close as he closed his eyes. Hopefully, you wouldn't be too upset at him for this plan of his.

You rubbed your eyes, dragging your feet as you approached the front door. It's too early for this..who is even coming over this early?" You mumbled to yourself, fixing your shirt and hair as best you could before you opened the door, greeted with quite the surprise.
"Uhm..Good Morning Jean, what're you doing here? With other knights, no less..?" You inquired, seeing your look of confusion made Jean confused as well for a moment before she brushed it off. "I must speak with Albedo, is he home?"
You stared at her for a moment before looking around at all of the knights with her, Hertha being one of them was..odd, but you paid it little mind. "Yeah..he's still in bed, what's happened?" Jean frowned, before letting out a sigh.
"We..have to take him over suspicions of murder." She stated, putting her hand on her chest with a look of concern as her eyes met yours, full of nothing but surprise. "He..he what? Suspicion of murder?" You saw Hertha's expression shift to that of slight guilt before shaking her head.
"Many witnesses have seen him burying bodies all over Mondstadt," Hertha stated, falling silent shortly after. "I'll...go wake him up, see what this is all about..one second." You closed the door and turned away, covering your mouth as you tried to wrap your head around the idea.
It was..impossible? He wouldn't do that surely? You were certain he would never, so you just shook it off for now and headed upstairs. "Albedo." You called, hearing him grumble softly as he opened one eye to look at you, just a brief glimpse of the look in your eyes told him all he needed to know.
He sat up and brushed a hand through his hair, pushing his bangs back until he properly fixed his hair. "What's wrong?" He inquired, sluggishly getting up and approaching you. You stared at him for a moment, shaking your head "The knights need to see you over something pretty important...I'm- gonna make myself breakfast."
He was momentarily stunned by your distancing, however, it was somewhat expected. "Alright." He hummed, waving as you turned away and went back downstairs. You let Jean in, asking the other knights to wait outside for now.
You set a glass of water down before her, smiling briefly before sighing "Sorry...I'm having trouble wrapping..my head around this." You sighed, Jean nodded expectantly, "I as well." She hummed, taking a sip of the water.
"The coming days will no doubt be hard on you, should you need anything, I'd be happy to help." She hummed and smiled at you before looking over at the stairs as Albedo walked down while doing up the last button of his shirt.
"Ah..." he stared for a moment before nodding, Jean set the water down and stepped back. Her arua felt suffocating when she was serious, it only worsened your mood. Sensing this, Albedo walked over and kissed your forehead, his thumb gliding over your knuckles before he let Jean pull him away with a gasp.
But he went willingly, and you were left alone in shock in a silent house.
"God, Albedo what did you do..?"
You are the prettiest bouquet
Of dying flowers
I have never seen.
