You found yourself staring at the large doors of the courtroom, a dreadful feeling building in your chest the more you thought about walking inside and finding a place to sit. Half of you wanted to ignore all of this, it couldn't be happening, surely? It must be a dream made in bad taste.
But as Kaeya walked up behind you, a few papers clutched tightly between his fingers, his voice guided you out of this momentary daze. "Come on, i'll help you find a place to sit." he encouraged softly, his hand gently grazing your upper back as he pushed the door open for you. The room was void of Albedo's presence, most other people were still getting comfortable in their seats.
You let out a sigh and lowered your head, "I was hoping this was a bad dream..the feeling's just getting worse." Kaeya looked at you with a frown as you looked at your feet with a disheartened expression. "I know, i promise, it'll be alright." he hummed and followed you up the stairs on the Defenses side.
"I hope so.." you sighed again as you sat down and rubbed your eyes, Albedo was right to know you would lose more sleep over this then he, since he knew what was going on.. You looked over at Jean and Dahlia, the two seemed to look over the court room before saying something quietly to eachother.
You swallowed hard and leaned back, as you looked around the room you didn't see anyone particularly familiar besides Diluc and the Traveler sitting not too far to your left. The more faces you saw the more real you realized this was, you looked down at your palms and bit the inside of your cheek on accident when your jaw clenched and your brows furrowed..doing everything it took not to cry right now.
He couldn't be guilty, he wouldn't harm someone, surely.
The room suddenly went particularly quiet as Albedo was lead into the room with two knights standing on either side of him. It was odd that he was allowed his Vision in the courtroom or that he wasn't restrained, but you were happy he wasn't restrained in the least. With his presence, court kicked off smoothly once Jean opened her mouth.
Needless to say, there was a lot of evidence stacked up against him, so much so that it left you dumbfounded. The absence of motive, any bodies or identification of any victims were the only things keeping him from the guilty verdict, even you and Sucrose were called upon for a brief moment to possibly give an alibi.
Though unfortunately..both of you had the same problem..She fell asleep sometime after midnight and you were half asleep by the time he returned to his office and went home with him, and to bed not long after, Hertha's counter argument was that he could've easily left the house amidst your sleep.
You didn't feel any better when you left the courtroom once it was adjourned, but something about sitting in that room full of unfamiliar faces, something felt very..off. There was a presence in the room that felt both familiar and sickeningly dreadful, such a feeling you could only recall when Albedo experienced that brief period of possession when Eris disappeared.
It was the presence of Durin..but you couldn't safely say that was fact, as you left the room, surrounded by this unfamiliar yet somewhat familiar faces, the feeling only faded when they were no longer in sight. It confused you so much that the only way you could think of finding out the truth was to do your own investigation, in Dragonspine.
