The Incident: Book 7, Part 14.

W/ Mya, Julian, Chad, Oliver, And Victor.

Setting: Inside The Cabin Like shelter, the group gathered in a circle.

Victors POV/1st person:

I watched as Julian walked back through the door, joining us once again. I nodded towards him in acknowledgement. "Welcome Back." I greeted, but he didn't seem amused, although I wasn't even trying to lighten the mood. Well, I guess- maybe I was, but who cares? Though... He seemed a little down, 'Wonder what that's about.' I thought to myself, Before Chad spoke up, and explained in an emotionless tone. "We found bagged logs in one of the lower cabinets. We have the chance to start a fire." Chad explained to Julian who continued to stare at the floor. Chad sighs, knowing that Julian wasn't having it right now. "Need a walk? A nap? Yeah, go take a nap or something." Chad says, sounding irritated as he spoke to Julian, I snickered silently and exchanged a One way glance with Mya, Who just trained her gaze On Julian And Chad. Oliver had gone to sleep, again, his stomach rising and falling with each steady breath as he laid sprawled on the floor. Mya bent down and grabbed the Bagged logs, and had found a ferro rod inside, She held it up without a word, And I turned around to see it, and Took it and carefully inspected it in my hands. "This Is?...." I asked. "A Ferro rod." Chad's voice broke through as he explained. "Most people use it when they're out in the wild, hiking and whatnot. Don't know why this previous home owner had it, though." Chad says, And I couldn't help but look surprised. Before nodding. "Hm." I crossed my arms and watched As Mya and Chad took out the logs and placed them into the fireplace, and lit them up with the ferro rod, a successful fire starting. Everyone exchanged glances with each other, grinning. "Looks like we're gonna be warm tonight, yeah?" I say, and the others nod. "Lets just hope the smoke doesn't give away our location to any wanderers looking for a place to stay." Mya says, although that was a bit worrying, I tried not to think too much about it."Alright, We Should all get some rest." Chad spoke up, and everyone took their own spot to rest, Julian on the couch, Oliver, obviously near the fireplace as the mutant dog tried to soak up the heat and warmth for himself. Mya Sitting Up against one of the recliners that were there, and I had just decided to sit next to Oliver, Not quite asleep yet as I ran my hand through his fur, watching him doze off once again, most likely diving in for another power nap. And Chad?... Well, he was Sitting Back at the table, Blankly watching out the window. All I hoped was that no one came in and ambushed us. But If they would... We'd find a way to be ready.

Half An Hour Later...

W/ Kennon, Jace, Karis, MSG. Smith & Cpl. Williams.

Setting: away from the abandoned and destroyed auto repair shop, becoming further and further out of view, , the sun slowly starting to set as night was approaching.

No One's POV/3rd Person:

After a Good half Hour of walking, MSG. Smith and Cpl. Williams where leading the group back To Their little 'camp' is what you could probably call it. "How much more walking until we get there?" Kennon asked, his annoyance and distaste for travelling started to shine through, and Jace only scoffed and rolled her eyes. Cpl. Williams looked back. "Its not too far now, so hang in there." Cpl. Williams, The ever nice guy, Tried to Encourage and Motivate. Kennon didn't seem moved by it in the slightest. "I'm Seriously Serious..." Kennon started to ramble, most likely to keep himself busy and take his mind off the walking. "Dude. We've been dealing with walking for like forever now. How are you still complaining about it after pretty much a big chunk of our life had been consumed by the outbreak?" Jace says, and Kennon looks at her in confusion. "What?" He says. Jace grimaces in aggravation as she remembers his current predicament with his mind and all. "Nothing." She says, and Karis looked up at the sky for a while. "Guys... You see that?" Karis says, and everyone looks towards her. "See what?" MSG. Smith queried. She pointed upwards. And there was in fact, something to look at. It was smoke that had seemed to be travelling upwards. "Someone started a fire?" Jace says, and Karis nods. "I think so." She answers. "We might be able to get help, we can stay there!" Karis adds, joy slightly starting to creep into her tone. Jace's eyes widened. ' What if it's Mya And Julian?' She thought to herself. She was never one to get her hopes up.. But now, Jace couldn't help but to do so. MSG. Smith still attempted to be practical. "We can only hope. I highly doubt anyone is gonna want strangers barging in and seeking refuge in the shelter THEY found. People are highly territorial these days." MSG. Smith commented, and Karis sighs. "Dont dim our light just yet," She mumbled on the moreso quiet side. Cpl. Williams looked from MSG. Smith To the others. "Well, if we're gonna try and investigate, we better do it now before it gets any darker." Cpl. Williams says, before MSG. Smith silently gave in, for once, and took the lead towards the direction the smoke came from. As they guessed their way around the land to find the place, Kennon realized what was happening. "Wait. So we're NOT going to your campsite thingy or whatever you had?!" Kennon jogged up and caught up with Cpl. Williams And MSG. Smith, as he seemed to be highly confused, and not to mention stressed out. Jace bit back a laugh and a 'oh my god.' and Karis just looked concerned. Just to feed Kennon's cluelessness, MSG. Smith nods. "Oh, Yeah, no, we totally are. We're just taking a longer route." MSG. Smith sarcastically says, And The Still Oblivious Kennon Looked horrified. "DUDE!' He cried out. Cpl. Williams looked at MSG. Smith, as they always seemed to share silent looks for some odd reason. It was a habit of theirs. MSG. Smith shrugged. "What? It's not like it would make much of a difference if I were to actually tell him we weren't going back to our place. I mean, blame Karis. She wants to check out this fire than actually go back to our camp." MSG. Smith says, showing zero care for Kennon's delusional panic about them not going to their camp. "Yeah, I hate to break it to you. But we ain't going back." Cpl. Williams just ended up breaking it to Kennon himself, due to MSG. Smith started to play around out of all times. '"We're going somewhere better." Cpl. Williams says. Cpl. Williams' gaze flicked back to MSG. Smith then Kennon. "Well, Maybe, but Its definitely somewhere better, it's a good chance it is."
