The Incident: Book 8, Part 4(The Incident Book 1 Finale.)
W/ Enzo.
Setting: Near the burning Cabin, smoke rises as the fire burns Continuously.
No One's POV/3rd person:
Enzo covered his wounded eye, gazing around, gritting his teeth. All he smelled or saw(to the best of visibility.) He had seen the fire rising from the Cabin, and saw a Mutant dog jump right out of the flames, only nothing but a few hairs singed and blood crusted fur that led to a gash, he huffs. He didn't know what it was, but it was headed in a certain direction. He pondered about following it. His thoughts stopped when he realized that the damn dog Just jumped out of a Fire and didn't seem Burned whatsoever. Little to no singed hairs. Was he fire resistant? Enzo snarls, then turns around. He puts two and two together. He believed that the kids went to the cabin, and the fire was burning. None of them came out. His hand fell back to his side, registering what happened. "NO! DAMN IT! NO!" Enzo stumbled towards the Burning cabin. He glared, enraged. Whoever did it, would die themselves. Painfully. He watched it burn down, he had made a promise to keep them all safe. But he couldn't keep his word.. He would never be able to heal or forgive himself for that. He spotted a torn cloth nearby, and he limped towards it. He had wondered where it came from. He picked it up. It was Elona's shirt. Maybe it was a sign she escaped? But it was also burnt. He didn't know what to say. But to keep their Life with him, he tied it around his belt loop. He might've not been able to keep his promise the first time, but this time.. He would make sure to keep himself to it. Looking the way the Mutant dog had left, which was also followed with several pairs of footprints in the snow, and had followed.

W/ Jace, Kennon, Julian And Mya.
Setting: walking further and further away from the cabin, as the sun had started to slowly set, most likely afternoon.
No One's POV/3rd person:
Jace sighs, looking over at Mya and Kennon. "Everyone holding up alright?" she asks worriedly. Julian doesn't respond. She gave him a look. Like she just so happened to know how it felt to have your dad just gone... LIke that. The only thing different is that hers wasn't dead. Or maybe he was. But either way, it didn't make much of a difference. She doesn't push him to talk. Her attempts wouldn't work anyway. She sighs before looking around, eyes scanning to see if anyone else was around. Suddenly, two pairs of footsteps approached. Chad and Victor. They looked worried, and defensive. "About time somebody came back around." Jace sighed in relief. She gestures towards Kennon and Mya. "Help me with these two." Jace ordered, and victor took Kennon' s side while Chad took Mya's. Julian sighs shakily, looking at his dads' Name patch he had been handed. The last thing Julian had to physically remember him. He swallows, hard. Before turning to Chad and Victor. "My dad gave me this. He said that there's a guarded community out west where we can stay. I'm assuming he was a soldier there protecting. Once they see this.." he held up the name patch. "They'll know." Julian says, before turning away for a second, examining it in his hands. "Atleast.. Thats what he said." he mumbled, and everyone stood there. He was unsure if they were thinking about it or not. "...My sister is there. My LITTLE sister. I have to go there for her." Julian says. Chad and Victor exchange glances with each other and they nod. "We'll go there." Chad says. "But if it's a trap, You'll be out before you can even turn around to look at us, dimwit." He jabs Julian hard in the chest. Julian felt too numb mentally to even bother. Victor watches the two, biting his lip in an effort not to laugh. "We're sitting ducks out here. Haul 'em." Chad walks past them and heads out west where Julian told them.

A couple hours later.
Setting: A barbed wire fence surrounding the inner part of what seemed like the community was in sight, The sun had set.
It was a long walk. Their feet hurt. More than it ever did, during their entire time out here. But they could finally see the End inside. And there was definitely light at the end of the tunnel, no matter where you are. Chad's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "So he wasn't lying.. Huh." He mumbled. Victor nods in amazement. "Woah." Victor says. "...well guys, I think we made it." Mya says. As they had started to approach the entrance, the Soldiers bright beams of light from the bore shone right on them as they had pointed their guns up towards them In prepared defense. "Woah, easy." Victor chuckled nervously. Chad gave Julian a silent death glare. All of them held up their hands in surrender while they patted them down.
Once they were in the clear, Julian handed one of the soldiers his fathers' name patch. The soldier had inspected it, then gave a double look back at his comrades as he handed it to them as well. Some let out a few chuckles. "MSG. Smith." One of the soldiers read out the embroidered lettering on the name patch. "A Good man." He had said. "Him and Squeaks were quite the duo." The soldier said. "'Squeaks?'" Julian repeated, confused. The soldier had chuckled once more. "A Harmless name for one of the Fresh ones up here. Cpl. Williams." The soldier addressed his name. Kennon and Jace gave each other solemn glances. "They both went MIA after going out on a run for god knows what." The soldier explained. He had glanced up at the others briefly, scanning their faces. "Seen 'em?" he queried. No one replied. "We're asking because they've both been written up as that for a hot minute." Another chimed in. "Only so much longer until we gotta report them as KIA. No one's surviving out there without the right equipment in general." "Not even the strongest of our men." The soldier sighed. "...MSG. Smith is my dad." Julian finally spoke up. "Figured." The soldier responded. "He... he's dead." Julian says. "Along with Cpl. Williams," "...Now please. Let us in. I have wounded friends, come on." Julian pleaded. They all looked at each other, then sidestepped for them to get in, for now, they would be just fine. Even if it was just for a month or two, they'd get to have a place to lay their heads without having to hold a gun at their side, or only with one eye open, or not have to take turns on watching duty during the night. And that' s all that matters.
The End.
