The Incident: Book 8, Part 2.
'Life Is What Happens to you When You're Busy Making Other Plans...'
Setting: Inside the cabin, with Elona, Corniyah, Masoma, Mya, Karis and the others.
No One's POV/3rd Person:
Karis grunts, struggling to regain her senses as she tries to blink away her blurred vision. She could see the others struggling, and that made the adrenaline flow faster. Suddenly, she got up and wrapped her arm around Masoma's neck, as hard as she could. Masoma gasped and coughed, helplessly tearing at Karis's arm. It hurt. But she didn't let go. Masoma fell limp and unconscious after a while. She sighed in relief before Seeing Mya fight off LIam pretty well, the guy looking malicious as ever as she stared daggers right at him, backing up. Julian was fighting Off Elona, while Oliver kept barking and biting at Liam's pant leg, not getting a good grip on him, though. It was weird with how easy Oliver was trying to go on him, even though he was wounded. Victor was dodging the flying objects from the others fighting each other, and Chad was assessing the situation. He looked right at Victor. "Make a run for it while you can." Chad demanded, and victor hesitated before running out the door, no one seeming to realize he ran off. Chad's attention shifted back to the others, briefly making eye contact with Karis and nodding, before taking on Corniyah himself. All of a sudden Liam was flooring Mya aggressively, and she was well... getting her butt kicked pretty bad, to put it nicely. Mya collapsed and struggled to get up and Karis froze, before running over. Karis kicked him in the ribs, and he fell back, staggering up and running towards her again, but this time, Karis added a punch to the face with it too, stunning him for a good minute. Karis turned around, ready to help Mya up. "You okay?" Karis worriedly asked, before she nodded. She keeps a firm grip on Mya as a way of support. "Pretty horrible way to kick off being together again," MYa gave a weak chuckle. Karis grins and nods. "Just think of it like Old Times." Karis adds humor to the situation. Mya averted her gaze, sighing. "You know, we'll all get out of here together. And everything will be back to how it was, or at least half, alright?" Karis says reassuringly, trying to convince herself as well. Karis turns around, to see the others, but gets met with a long blade... A knife.

Liam stabbed her hard in the neck. A spray of blood went out, Karis choked, wobbling on her feet before falling back, LIfe slowly draining from her eyes as her blood pooled on the floor. Mya stared in shock, not being able to register anything. It happened too fast. Too fast. She breathed shakily, looking at Karis's lifeless body. Julian screamed, running over. He grimaces in pain at seeing what had happened, he falls to the floor. "What..." Mya shakily says, eyes wide and traumatized as she looks up. Liam eyed her, she tackled him and clawed him in the face with her nails, he yelled in agony and he grabbed her wrists before headbutting her in the head, hard. Causing her to involuntarily recoil back as she got up off the floor. Julian tried to shake Karis awake, not believing it. "Wake up, you idiot. No. this can't be real, wake me up already!" he sobbed. Their friend. THEIR FRIEND. Was gone. He just saw their lifelong friend just die in front of them. And then it all flooded back. The first day of school together, the times at recess, sorting out their schedules in middle school, trying to see what classes they had together, the sleepovers, the endless birthdays they celebrated with each other, the ups and downs that they had taken for granted. He had even known Karis longer than he had even known Mya. and damn, that's saying a lot. And they did everything together... They even fought together in this hellhole, side by side. Every. Single. Stage. Of their life. And just like that. The years of bond and trust was put to halt in only a matter of seconds. And it was by someone they barely knew. How could he let it happen? He failed his childhood friend, and he failed Mya. how many more people were going to slip through his fingers, let alone by the hands of a coldblooded Backstabber and a manipulator? Why was he letting him do this? He had to put Lam to an end, he would be the one to do it. But somehow, even with what had just happened, he felt like he didn't even have the strength to lift a finger, so how would go through it? He didn't know. But he would try, that's for sure. He'd try, even if it would kill him. He grit his teeth, and looked around. And It would be for Karis, and for all over his other friends, before he lost them, too. He sighed shakily before looking up and seeing Elona glaring right behind him. But of course, he'd have to get rid of Liams' little buddies too. He charged at Elona, and Uppercutted her hard in the jaw, before taking the broken table leg and stabbing her hard through the abdomen with it, impaling her. She yelled out in pain, "You son of a-" Elona glared, seeing the mindless rage in his eyes, and her expression faded into a grim one, he punched her hard in the face for a finisher, knocking her out way cold. He didn't know her fate yet, but she couldn't do anything right now. So he would just move on from her. He turned his back from her, and looked over at LIam, still continuously fighting Mya, and Corniyah trying to get at Chad. Oliver trotted over to Karis's limp body, Ears pinned as he sniffed her. Even he knew. That only gave him more reason to make this right.
