Chapter 3: Grandmama's Advice

Tyler slowly blinked his eyes open as his mom's face came into view. "Hey." She whispered. "Sleep well?"

She noticed the confused look on Tyler's face and smiled. "I'm really here. Your father built this place right after you were born." Tyler looked around and saw that they were in some kind of underground bunker. "He wanted to keep you safe in case I, uh...well, you know."

"I remember your funeral like it was yesterday..."

Francoise grasped Tyler's hand. "Dr. Stonehurst lied to your father. To everybody."

Tyler went to sit up, but heard the clinking of chains. He pulled back his covers and saw that his ankle was chained to the floor.

"You don't trust me?" He asked in disbelief.

"You unleashed your Hyde last night. That's something you just don't recover from overnight." Francoise explained. "It...it was just because you didn't have a master."

Tyler clenched his jaw. "So you're my master now?"

His mother nodded. "Mm-hmm. Well, you must be hungry." She suddenly hunched over and coughed into a cloth, Tyler noticed the blood spatter as she coughed. "Do you want some uh, pancakes? They were always your favorite, right?"

"I'm not a kid anymore, so stop trying to placate me!" Tyler snapped at her.

Francoise swung her hand back and hit Tyler across the face. "Don't you ever raise your voice to me again." She disciplined. "Now, I'm going to make you those pancakes, sweetie..."

Enid sat by the large cobweb window of her dorm, deep in thought. She extended her claws, and examined her hand. She was in a state of shock. She transformed last night, without a full moon.

A knock was heard on her door and it opened to reveal Bruno. "Hey, you okay?"

Enid retracted her claws and looked up at him. "Yeah, sorry. Just didn't sleep very much."

"You did just face off with a Hyde last night." Bruno reminded her.

Enid stood up, brushing off her skirt. "Yeah, I'm sure that's it..."

Bruno stepped towards her and as he did, his phone began blowing up.

"Your mom again?" Enid guessed. "She's been calling a lot lately."

Bruno tucked his phone in his pocket. "Family drama back home. I'll call her later."

"You know you can talk to me about that stuff." Enid reassured him.

Bruno smiled. "Some things words can't fix."

He then leaned down to kiss her, and Enid eagerly kissed him back and felt his hand cup her face. They would have continued but someone cleared their throat behind them.

The two wolves jump back at see Miss Capri standing in Enid's dorm.

"Professor Capri. I was just checking on Enid." Bruno excused.
