My eyes snapped opened immediately. I tried to pull back but River held on to my fingers tightly. The kiss felt awkward and uncomfortable with my guitar squished between us.
As he slowly pulled back, I felt him smile as if he could tell how uncomfortable this was for me. Only when he pulled away did I hear the cheering from the crowd. Being the cocky bastard he was, he tried to go in again, but I pressed my hands against his chest, making my acrylic nails dig in.
He sneered at me slightly, then winked. I replied by sticking my tongue out and turned away from his stupid smirk. My eyes met Jess' which were wide and confused. Mason, who sat beside her, silently laughed.
I gave him the dirtiest look I could conquer up. Of course he would find that funny. I hated being surprised and put on the spot.
My face remained in a scowl as stage crew rushed around us and removed the stools. I went back to my microphone, furious that River had just done that in front of hundreds of people. We didn't know each other, not that I had a problem with making out with gorgeous guys, I just didn't like making out with jerks!
Mason gave me a playful shove, smiling slightly. All I could do was roll my eyes and shrug. I knew Mason was only trying to make me feel better, but there was nothing anyone could do when I was mad. Since screaming at River wasn't an option at the moment, I'd just have to wait.
Drew didn't looked pleased either, scowling at River as River sauntered out to the front of the stage slowly, knowing he had all the time in the world.
Ugh. Such an idiot.
I strummed my fingers across my black Fender guitar, letting the note hang in the air.
"You know it's a good day when a pretty girl kisses ya!" River jeered into his mic, turning towards me.
Who was he kidding? I did not kiss him! He kissed me! The idea that I would even think of doing that was completely ludacris!
He beckoned me towards him, I'm not sure for what though. My eyes widened, and I stood there slack jawed as the camera recorded my reaction on to the screens behind me.
Finally, reluctantly, I gave him the satisfaction of shaking my head and giving a small smile. It could be passed off as me just being shy and no one would mind. As soon as I was sure the cameras had gone back to River, I snapped back into a grimace.
He laughed out loud and shouted into the crowd. "This tour is gonna be awesome!"
The crowd agreed with him with cheers.
I was beginning to think that the crowd would cheer no matter what River said. They worshipped him. I imagined him saying something like "hey! I kill kittens!" or "hey! I'm never going to marry any of you!" and the audience would still freak out. That thought made me somewhat twitch my mouth into a smile.
River continued his speech as I continued to play notes and let them continue for long times.
"I'll always remember this day. You guys are just so amazing, I don't know if the other dates will be able to top it!" He paused. "Unfortunately, we've come to the last song."
The crowd moaned disappointed.
Oops, guess I was wrong.
"I know, time just flew by, that's why I'm going to ask you guys a favour? Promise to keep requesting on radio stations and buying my cd, and I'll promise to come right back! Okay?"
He was answered by a not as enthusiastic cheer, but he didn't falter.
"Okay, here we go!"
