Epilogue
"Okay Los Angeles! We're Shatter! Thank you for having us! This is our last song; Save Rock n' Roll" I yelled out into the microphone in the crowded venue, before Mason started hitting out the beat on his drum kit and Drew started to play the keyboard and hit the loop pedal so he could start playing bass.
I started clapping and gestured for the crowd to do the same and it brought me complete pleasure they followed suit.
The club/venue we were playing was smaller then what he had played before, but this time we were the main act and people had paid money to see us. The venue held a couple hundred people but it was packed to capacity, which was an amazing feeling.
The weeks and months that had followed my birthday party had been a blur. Shatter had gone into a full promotional tour, revving up for the release of our first album. It was tough but I wouldn't have done it any other way. Sure we had fans but not many people had heard our music so we had to win over a lot of the population.
We released the first single Save Rock n' Roll and the music video and it was received very positively. We immediately hit iTunes top 100 downloaded singles and had managed to remain there too. For a bands first official single to do that was unheard of and I still couldn't understand how it all happened.
Then we started to plan our tour around the States. As we revealed ticket information, more and more shows sold out. By the time the tour was about to start more than half the shows were sold out and we were getting bumped up to bigger venues.
None of us could believe it.
We released the album a week ago. To say I was nervous to have the full record available to the pubic was an understatement. The entire day beforehand I felt like I wanted to puke. Once it was finally released an aura of relief washed over me. We still hadn't heard the final numbers of how many copies we had sold but were expecting them soon.
Again I was scared. How much good luck did I have left? Surely, the other shoe would eventually drop and this dream life I was living was going to end, right?
Thankfully, Shatter had set up a couple shows in California to get an idea of how the tour would run, which distracted me for the most part.
"You are what you love,
Not who loves you."
I sang into the microphone, as I took it off its stand.
"In a world full of the word yes
I'm here to scream..."
I motioned for the crowd to sing with me, and I directed the mic to them.
"No, NO!"
I stomped my foot with the song; my body absolutely alive with the sensation of having so many people sing back the song to us.
"Where ever I go, go!
Trouble seems to follow,
I only plugged in to save rock and roll!"
Gosh, I really did love this song. So many different meanings for me and it was a bonus that others enjoyed it too.
The crowd was screaming alone with me and I barely could take it all in. I took comfort in the fact that I knew I would get to do the whole things again tomorrow night.
The song was so badass. I loved performing it.
Plus Jess and Drew loved the song too because they got you to do tricks. During the lull in-between chorus and second verse, both of them wound up and threw their instruments soaring into the air. They launched their guitar and bass 20 feet and the other person caught it. The rest of the song they played the opposite instrument. It was fun to watch after I got over the fact that I wasn't going to be hit with a guitar.
