"Will you just shut up!" I yelled at Drew from across the table.
He paused in a mid tap of his feet and gave me a curious look. "What's up with you?" He took a sip of his beer.
In the back of my head, I tried to remember where the box of it had come from since none of us were of legal age yet. Tour manager Jeff didn't seem like the type who would buy it for us since we were only turning 18 in couple months. Maybe someone on the crew had bought it for Mason since he was the most outgoing of us or Jess could have flirted her way into getting some.
I looked at my unopened bottle that was already warm. "Hmm I don't know." I tried to reply sarcastically except it just ended coming out pathetic and sad.
We sat in the back lounge of our tour bus "celebrating" our record deal by ourselves. River had wanted to drive behind in his new SUV and it was too early in the tour to have made any friends with the band crew so we just awkwardly kept to ourselves here. Some of the younger ones had stopped by earlier, took a bottle of beer and left which was okay with us. We had a couple of months to get familiar with them anyways.
At the moment, the tour was taking us up from Florida to Texas. So we had a couple of hours of driving to go.
"Aw Alice. Stop acting like this. Just think, a couple hours ago, we were record label-less and virtually unknown to everybody."
I rolled my eyes. "Don't kid yourself; we're still unknown."
He took another sip shrugging. I could tell from the way he started taking more frequent sips, that Drew was trying to shake the feeling of negativity away. I really was a bummer to be around right now.
"People will know us now....well only you really, but still that's something." He pointed out, his blue eyes shining at his own joke.
People shouldn't know about me unless directly related to the band. I wasn't a solo project, I was apart of Shatter. This whole plan sounded like a nightmare for me.
When I didn't respond, he sighed.
"Listen, I'm not saying I like this situation. The guy's a jerk and treats you like shit. But you're strong and can totally do this."
I groaned hiding myself under my arms and hair. That's exactly what I didn't want to hear.
Jess and Mason stumbled towards us from the front lounge, laughing and banging into walls. Jess held a mickey of vodka in her hands. I noticed it was half full.
"Wooohoo!" Jess yelled, giggling to herself as she crashed into the bench beside me. "What's happening?" She slurred a bit. It didn't surprise me that she was already drunk; she was a bit of a light weight.
I looked up at her through my hair.
"I hate this." I stated bitterly.
Jess scrunched her face in distaste, and then took another sip from her bottle.
"Girl, you gotta see the upside to this..."
I sat up, nodding sarcastically. "Please, where is my silver lining?!"
She smiled secretly, completely disregarding my sarcasm and continued. "River is so effing hot; you have no idea how lucky you are!" Jess gushed, shaking me.
I groaned loudly, running my fingers threw my hair, looking up at the ceiling.
Jess knew exactly what to say to make me feel better... Not.
