I screamed.
"That was freaking incredible" It was hard to contain myself.
"You rocked it girl!" Jess cheered with me.
I hugged her, at a loss of what to do. The show had gone so well and we were even able to play two of our own songs! Well, actually we played one of our own and covered Mayday Parade's Jamie All Over. I like to think we offered a twist since I was a girl and it was originally sung by a boy.
Its rare to see female singers from our "scene". Yes, there was a few, but they were huge around the world. It seemed to be like the "token band girl". I looked up to all the female artists because they were paving the path in such a male dominated field, as cliché as that sounds.
All I knew was that because of positive role models like them; during our very short set, I could sing my heart out, and I left everything I had on the stage. Sure, I felt vulnerable when it was over because I was a little unsure on how well it would translate. We received cheers, something I never thought I'd hear. The crowd loved it and I was surprised at how many people sang along to both singles.
There was a camera crew backstage that I noticed suddenly. The bright light they needed blinded me instantly. My eyes immediately shut and reopened, praying that the lights and the camera would disappear.
Suddenly the light was gone. My vision cleared and River materializing out of nowhere, was abruptly inches from my face.
"Don't make this awkward." He spoke quietly into my ear, his breath licking the hair on my neck and made my body shiver.
I pulled back a bit, my face visually showing my confusion. He leaned in again.
"My managers called me about the cameras. They're doing some behind the scene things for a new music video. Act like you like me." He hissed into my ear.
I pulled back, laughing at nothing. River smiled with me and congratulated me on how well the show went, acting like nothing had happened.
"No, I really should be congratulating you!" I gushed, trying to seem as fake as possible.
The cameras were far enough away that with all the people walking and talking; they wouldn't be able to hear our discussion just see our faces. Jess was still beside me; she must have been able to figure out what was going on, from the bright lights and whatnot. She smiled brightly.
"Guys! I can't believe this is happening to us!" She squealed.
River who was standing on one side of me, draped his arm around my shoulders and leaned in to Jess who was on the other side of me.
"I know. Definitely living the dream!" He agreed, his smirk bigger then normal as he looked down at me.
Out of no where, Drew and Mason were beside us, looking bewildered.
"Umm...We're supposed to tell you that theirs some type of fair or carnival going on just outside of town and we're supposed to suggest we go..." Drew explained, shrugging.
