“Are you kidding me?” Drew muttered, starring deadpan as I stood in the doorway with Jess.
We had just entered the apartment when Drew came to see what the commotion was. He froze mid step after seeing the familiar blonde hair.
“What kind of greeting is that?” Jess asked embracing Drew in a hug.
Drew, still in shock with the arrival of Jess, returned her hug weakly. His eyes were wide looking at me as if I had lost my mind.
I had purposely forgotten to tell anyone that I had called Jess and invited her to LA in order to avoid any disputes. I was the one that needed to mend the friendship and with Mason and Drew their it won't have happened. So to say Drew was surprised was an huge understatement.
“Umm, what’s going on here?” Drew questioned, still not believing Jess was here.
“I invited her back into the band.” I said with a shrug, messing with him a bit at how nonchalantly I was acting. “Here Jess, I’ll show you the room we’re sharing.”
Stepping past Drew I walked down the hallway of our shared rented apartment. At the end of the passage was the living room and kitchen areas. Mason sat watching television with a large bowl of cereal in his hands.
He looked up and nearly choked.
“Holy crap. What’s with everyone?” Jess asked sarcastically.
Mason recovered, still completely dumbfounded.
“What the hell are you doing here?” He kept looking between Jess’ and my face, trying to figure out what was going on.
“Aren’t you excited to see me Mas?” Jess asked, joking around still.
“Frankly, no.” Drew pronounced, from behind us as he leaned up against the kitchen counter, arms crossed over his chest. He was not impressed.
Jess flinched as if someone had hit her, the eager mood to see her friends drastically changing into regret.
“Listen; I invited her out here. We talked and… And I’m not saying that I’m going to ignore what happened but I think we should continue as a four piece band.” I explained defensively.
Mason and Drew were just as pissed off as I was about what had happened and it looked like now they were questioning my sanity.
“Are you serious?” Drew was skeptical; his eyes narrowed trying to wrap his head around the idea.
Jess cleared her throat.
“I don’t expect you guys to forgive what I’ve done. I hate myself for it and wouldn’t judge you if you did the same. But you have to know that I’m fully committed to Shatter… that is if you take me back.” She spoke slowly, but sincerely.
Mason shrugged.
“I’m willing to give you a second chance. We’ll just have to see how it goes.” Mason could never hold a grudge on anyone. Plus, Jess and him were very similar and got along almost more than Jess and I got along, so it was easier to win him over.
Drew on the other hand, still look unenthusiastic.
A knock came from the door, and Drew went to go answer it, a scowl still on his face.
“Crap. He doesn’t want me to be here.” Jess muttered upset.
I tried to tell her no, but from how Drew was reacting, it was fairly obvious that he was unimpressed.
A loud voice came from the door way and travelled up hallway.
Drew appeared with Jeff of all people.
