The next morning was hell.
I woke early, thankful that I was in my bed at the hotel with Jess and her messy blonde hair sleeping peacefully in the bed beside mine. I never had that moment where I was ignorant to what had happened; it was the first thing I thought of once I became conscious. I could still feel Oliver’s body suffocating mine and it shook me to my core.
My body felt like I had been walked on and my head felt like it was three sizes too big.
The room was dark; the curtains had been pulled over the large window making it still seem like night but I saw the blue sky pouring in from the sides where the curtains didn’t touch the wall. The room seemed relatively back to normal though, with all of the make up and clothes taken away and again leaving Jess and I’s normal mess just as we had left it.
My mouth tasted so gross that I needed to fix it immediately. I pulled the sheets off me and placed my feet on the scratchy carpet. In the back of my mind I wondered who had undressed me and put me in a pair of pajamas. I said a silent prayer hoping it was Jess and not one of the boys.
I dragged myself to the bathroom, trying not to wake Jess up but my head was pounding so everything seemed loud to me. The fluorescent light hurt my eyes as I flicked the switch illuminating the room. I paused for a moment to see if I was going to be sick.
Nope.
I took my toothbrush and put a large amount of toothpaste on the bristly part. Pain shot through my hand as I grabbed hold of the handle and through the reflection of the mirror I saw for the first time how bruised my knuckles were. The purple color traveled from my fingers to my wrist and along with my black nail polish, both of my hands looked grueling.
I examined the mess of make up on my face as I started to brush my teeth, being careful not to be as rough on my hands to avoid anymore pain. Surprisingly enough, most of the make up had been washed away from my eyes from my tears but there was a black tint to my face from the smokey eye shadow.
I finished cleaning my teeth and took a white wash cloth and wet it. Carefully I washed away the remaining make up, finding my slightly swollen face underneath. My hair was in a knotted mess and I didn’t even think twice about reaching and turning on the shower to the hottest temperature it would go.
I stripped quickly and got in, moaning slightly as the hot water hit my body. My eyes sagged slightly, feeling sleepy as all the tension melt away. I picked up a bottle of shampoo that I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford if I hadn’t been in the situation I was in. I was lathering the shampoo in my hair when I heard a knock at the door before it opened.
“Jess, I’ll be out in a sec.” My voice croaked, after using it for the first time this morning.
“It isn’t Jess. It’s me.”
My body tensed.
“What? Why?” I asked a bit hysterical as River came into the bathroom and shut the door behind him quietly.
“Don’t worry, I can’t see you or anything, I just wanted to talk and I was impatient I guess.”
Pulling the curtain back slightly just so that my head peaked out, I saw for my own eyes River standing in the bathroom, his back leaning against the door. He was wearing a pair of grey sweatpants and a tight plain white t-shirt. He offered me a small shrug as I starred at him like he was crazy.
“River get out!” I yelled in my best whispered tone, totally aware Jess was still sleeping in the other room.
“I just want to talk! You can continue with washing your hair and whatever, just talk to me. Please.”
