Border crossings are hell while on tour. The officials go through the entire bus, searching through your personal belongings and messing up your home in order to be sure there isn't anything illegal inside. They have to look inside all the buses, trailers and even inside the boxes we store the instruments in. Passports have to be double checked and you feel as if you're being interrogated all the time.

To make matters worse, we usually have to go through this in the middle of the night.

I stifled a yawn as we waited in a line outside the border crossing office, watching as all three of our tour buses, our van, and our trailers got searched.

I had to give credit to the Canadian officials on duty tonight because they were tearing apart our bus quickly.

"I hate people going through my stuff." Jess muttered as she jumped up and down trying to stay warm.

I had told her to put on a pair of sweatpants or something but she insisted on leaving her pajama shorts on, saying that we'd be "back on the bus in twenty minutes."

Well it had already been thirty minutes past and we had at least had another twenty-five to go. And now as if to make Jess completely regret her decision; it began to snow.

"Like obviously if I had drugs or something I wouldn't be putting them under my pillow." She continued.

I elbowed her side.

"Shh. You can't say stuff like that!" I whispered to her in horror.

Jess just rolled her eyes.

"We just performed our first shows out of the States guys," Mason thought out loud. "This is huge."

River nodded, as he leaned against a cement wall.

"It's always surreal going to different countries. Cause we don't get to them as often, kids can go crazy." He agreed.

"It's not like Canada is such a different country though." Drew said harshly under his breath.

I gave him a quizzical look.

I missed the thoughtful boy I knew and resented this tension filled man that had refused to leave. He used to be so kind and gentle but now Drew was just bitter and hurt, all because of me.

I still had yet to talk to him. It had been two days since River let me in on the little secret but I still couldn't bring myself to confront Drew about it.

I opened my mouth to say something to Drew but River cut me off.

"You'd be surprised Drew," River grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him, hugging me from behind.

"People get jealous over what they can't have."

Though River's face was behind me, I could tell he was starring at Drew intently. His tone of voice was faking innocence but I picked up the dark tone and the double meaning behind his words.

I turned my head up to look at River, trying to figure out what was going on, but he just gave me a wink and leaned down to kiss my mouth.

River's kiss was brief but with a purpose.

I pulled away shocked that River would try something so blatantly obvious just to hurt Drew

River and I had never done anything like that before. All of our public displays of affection were because the press was watching. The fact that he would use me just to poke fun at Drew was disgusting.

River ignored my furious gaze and turned to Drew with a smug look on his face.

Our three friends all had similar faces showing of how uncomfortable they all were.
