THE THREE now were searching for the manual, with Jonathan and Nancy's help, since the two came over to see what was going on after the radio malfunctioned. "I swear to God this stupid thing does not exist." Robin said as she walked out of the office, after searching every cabinet, and every drawer in there. She brushed past James who was kneeling down and digging through boxes. He swore he saw it somewhere in here. Maybe a week ago.
"Can someone try Dustin again?" Steve asked as James glanced over at his boyfriend. "He turned off his walkie." He said, as Robin joins Nancy's side to help her look. "What's up with him lately?" The Wheeler girl asked, looking around the room at the others. "Don't get me started." Steve said as James walked over, looking at the box underneath the table. "Yeah. Don't." Robin pleaded with Nancy.
"I found it." James said, catching the other young adults' attention before he brought it over to the table and slammed it down. Steve came to stand to his right, as Jonathan came over to stand to his left, with Robin and Nancy across from them. He flipped the binder open, and flipped through the pages, a little too fast. "Wait, wait, wait." Steve stopped him, stopping his hand, "there it is, yeah." He pointed at the page.
"Remote radio head, yeah." He said and James tilts his head, squinting his eyes at the page in thought. "And, uh, where exactly are we gonna find this remote thingamajig?" Robin said, looking at Nancy then at the three boys standing on the other side of the table. Steve looks at James as the taller glanced up at Nancy who was already looking back at him.
Outside, they walk up to the tower and all stood in a line. "I don't see it." Robin said, looking up. "It's up there somewhere." Nancy said to the others, all staring up at the tower. "It's gotta be." James agreed, nodding. "So, I guess somebody's gotta climb to the tippy top of this bad boy and..." The Buckley said, then pretended to fix something as she makes squeaking noises.
"Without a harness or anything, it seems kind of dangerous." James pointed out, crossing his arms. "A.K.A. a job for good old Steve Harrington." His boyfriend says, walking over. "No third person please!" Robin said. "Yeah. Please." The Hopper begged. "Alright." The Harrington waved a hand at them.
"I, uh... I actually think this might be a better job for Jonathan Byers." Jonathan had walked over, taking off his jacket. Robin and Nancy look at one another, before rolling their eyes. "I'm, like, one quarter monkey, dude. I got this, Byers. Don't sweat it." Steve took off his jacket as well, before tossing it over to Robin.
The Buckley made a face, handing it over to James. "Uh, voltage!" The Hopper calls out to his boyfriend who looked over. "Unless you wanna fry." Robin pointed out. "Yeah, I know." The Harrington said, walking over to the powerhouse of the tower. "I'm not an idiot." He said and James glanced at the Buckley girl to his left who made a face that said she begs to differ. And now Jonathan was climbing.
"Woah, dude, what are you doing?" Steve calls out to him, making the Byers stop. "I got this, dude. Don't sweat it!" He said but the Harrington quickly ran over to the other ladder. All while the girls and James stood there, watching them. Nancy and James both let out sighs, turning away from the tower so they don't have to watch their boyfriends race up the tower's two ladders, "what is it about your presences that brings out their inner Neanderthal?" Robin asked the two, which made James roll his eyes.
And then Murray's truck appeared. "I thought grocery delivery wasn't till tomorrow." James says to the two, "me too." Nancy said, before the three of them made their way over, no longer watching whatever competition was going on between Jonathan and Steve.
At the top, Jonathan plugged in the remote radio head, but nothing. So Steve hits the box. "Never fails." He said, then the two rushed to the railing. "I fixed it!" They both shout in sync, but the girls and James weren't even there. They were greeting Murray, who now opened up the back of his truck, and climbed up.
