Arriving at the SB headquarters was the now deceased Peiper's aide-de-camp: Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich. The cool-headed and moderate second in command to the hot-headed and zealous Peiper, was in need of an urgent update on the whereabouts of his commander.

Suddenly Bittrich's own aid, Wilhelm Goertzmann, came rushing from the radioroom shouting that Kaiser Wilhelm was on the telephone. The whole room, which included various high ranking officers of the SB looked at Goertzmann with shock, then they turned to eachother - their faces starting to smile for the first time since the putsch began, then all eyes turned to Bittrich.

Bittrich said nothing but went inside the room, Goertzmann looking on with releif. The unterscharfuhrer who had recieved the initial call, handed Bittrich the telephone, the Obergruppenfuhrer's hand shaked as he held the reciever to his ear.

"Obergruppenfuhrer Bittrich reporting." He said, still uncertain which voice he would hear. But the next sentence silenced any doubts he had.

"Obergruppenfuhrer Bittirch," came the unmistakable voice of the Kaiser, Bittrich immediatly snapped to attention and saluted even though they were conversing via telephone. Though it was barely a conversation at the moment, but Bittrichs behaviour was replicated by all the officers and personel in the room.

"My Kaiser..." Bittrich stammered.

"I trust SB forces are working to stem the tide of the traitours within the army?" Wilhelm interrogated.

"Yes sire! We have prevented them from breaking out of the Federal district, but they are moving towards the Wilhelmstrasser, we need reinforcements to liquidate the encirclement." Bittrich reported. "Additionally, I have lost contact with Obersgruppenfuhrer Peiper."

"I have been informed by my spy within in the rebel movement that Peiper was ambushed and is dead." Wilhelm stated, Bittrich gulped as that meant he was the highest ranking SB officer in Berlin and Wilhelm obviously thought the same. "Therefore I am appointing you commander of SB forces in Berlin, you have full authority to crush this coup without predjudice. And I want the ringleaders alive.

"Understood mein Kaiser, is there any word of reinforcements?" Bittrich dared to ask.

"Von Runstedt and Von Hammerstein have contacted the various German military districts and only two have taken any action under the plotters, but I have been reliably informed that any putsch attempts there have been... liquidated." Bittrich could only imagine what the Kaiser had implied. "August von Mackensen is on his way to reinforce you with a whole corp's worth of men," Bittrich sighed in relief as a whole army corps numbered at around 100,000, "and I am on my way as well. Even Tsar Nicholas has sent his Russian 3rd regiment to reinforce you as we have been hosting them for exercises."

"Understood sire." Bittrich responded.

"The fools have no idea they are walking right into my trap, hold the line until it can be sprung. And make sure all know who is still alive, and is still running the Kaiserreich." Wilhelm ordered, Bittrich snapped his heels as Wilhelm disconnected.
