I do

Marjorie arrived to work with a sour look on her face, her mind elsewhere.
"Marjorie? What's wrong?" Reece asked, noticing the change in the usual, bubbly manager.
"Nothing. Get back to work!" She replied, as she walked past him to her desk in the far corner.
Reece watched her for a few seconds, until Marjorie looked up, and he had to dart his eyes away.
"I'm pretty sure I told you to get back to work, right?" She commented, staring at him.
"Yeah sorry. I just wanted to check in with you. You're not your usual self. Just worried that's all," he answered her in a soft tone, making Marjorie feel safe.
"Oh."
"I'll get back to work promise. Just know I'm here for you Marjorie," Reece added, turning to start his emails again.

By 10am, Marjorie's mood worsened. She had received a few texts from her boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend, about the split up. He was spiteful, and angry, lashing out and picking her apart.
"Marjorie?" Charlotte asked from the doorway.
"Oh, hi my love, you okay?"
"Yeah I'm okay, you?"
"Yeah good. What did you need?" Marjorie responded calmly, feeling Reece's eyes on her.
Reece was almost studying her, watching her demeanour, seeing the way her shoulders were tense, how she was clearly bottling something inside.

Charlotte left shortly after, and Marjorie turned to see Reece still looking at her. Something about his blue eyes, they made her feel safe, comforted.
"Reece?" She called him out of his daze.
"Hmm?"
"Why do you keep staring at me?" She asked.
"You're tense. Something is wrong. I can tell. I just wanted you to know you're not alone."
Marjorie stared at him, no one had ever said that to her. No one had ever been that nice to her, or at least no man.

She took a deep breath, wondering if she was actually going to do this.
"Me and my boyfriend broke up," she stuttered out, anxiously twisting a ring on her hand.
"Oh, I'm so sorry," Reece replied.
"No don't be. He was an awful man, the only reason I stayed so long is because I thought it was what I deserved," Marjorie admitted.
"Marjorie. Listen to me, you deserve the world. You are so kind, to all the kids and staff here, as well as caring and everything else under the sun. You are the sun, and you make everyone's day here just that much better. Please never think you deserve less."
"Wow. Uhm, thanks Reece."
"Don't mention it."

A few weeks had gone by, Marjorie's mood had gotten better thanks to a certain someone. Her and Reece had gotten closer.
"Reece, do you wanna come back to mine later? Could really use a private chef," Marjorie suggested, a slight chirp in her voice.
"Oh really? That's all I am? A private chef," Reece joked, making them both laugh.
"Obviously I was kidding. It would be nice to just spend time together, outside of work."
"Yeah, that sounds nice," Reece responded.

Later that evening, the pair were sat in Marjorie's dining room, eating a mac and cheese Reece had made.
"Reece your food is genuinely the best ever. How do you cook like this?"
"I'm not sure, I guess I'm a natural?"
"Brag," Marjorie mumbled, a slight laugh attached.
"Yeah, yeah. Marjorie, your house is lovely I must say. Like homey, and comfy, it's awesome," Reece commented.
"Yeah. It's good. Big. But good."

The two silently moved to the living room, grabbing a glass of wine each as they settled in to watch a movie.
Marjorie hated to admit it, but this was the most loved she felt in years, and she wasn't even dating this man. Yes she had feelings for him, and they had only grown over the last few weeks, but she didn't want to tell him. She had never experienced a man truly love her back, she never thought Reece would feel the same.
Reece was struggling with his own feelings. He fell head over heels for Marjorie the first day he saw her, but couldn't ever say. Then she went through a breakup, and it was insensitive to date her then. And now, they had grown close. Marjorie even admitted to other people that Reece was her best friend. That didn't sound like a woman who was in love with him romantically. But he couldn't go on with the hot and cold, the mixed signals, he knew he needed to say something.

"Marjorie?" He turned to her, pausing the movie.
"You okay my love?" She responded naturally, but the way she said it made a beat skip in his chest.
"I need to tell you something. Marjorie, I see you. I see you when you're looking lonely, which is a lot, and I know you hate to speak about it but I always hope that you're alright. And I see you, you think that nobody will love you, not after your dick of an ex boyfriend, but I do. I love you. I'm in love with everything about you. How you always show up to work 30 minutes early just in case anyone needs you, how you always make sure you bring enough food for lunch to share with Carly, and how no matter what, you always show up for others. And, I've been wondering if you feel the same way, I never really had the chance to ask, but that's now. This is my chance. Marjorie, I love you. I do," Reece confessed, his eyes gazing into Marjorie's the whole time.

She was silent. She didn't know what to say. No one had ever dramatically loved confessed before, certainly not someone she was extremely attracted to.
Her heat was beating so hard she was sure Reece could hear it.

"Marjorie?" Reece pulled her out of her daze, seeing her eyes come back into focus.
"Oh, sorry."
"Sorry? As in, you don't? No, that's okay. I just wanted to get my feelings into the open, because they were killing me. Especially spending all this time with you and not being able to be with you. It's okay. I will, uh, go, and see you in work on Monday," Reece stumbled out his words, trying to keep his voice steady as he rose.
"No," Marjorie almost yelled, grabbing Reece's hand and pulling him back down, "Don't go Reece. I do. I love you too, I just never thought in a million years that you would love me back. I thought I was being silly. Reece you're my best friend, and I want to be with you," Marjorie admitted, almost to herself too. Finally allowing herself to feel what she wanted.
"You do?! You're serious?"
"Yes my love," she replied, but there was something different about the way she said it. Reece brought her in for a hug, both of them relaxing against each other.

"Oh, Marj, I have one more thing to ask," Reece said, pulling back from their hug.
"Go for it."
"May I be your boyfriend?" He asked seriously. The look on his face made Marjorie giggle slightly.
"Of course. I'd love for you to be my boyfriend. And I would kill to be your girlfriend," Marjorie responded, leaning closer to him.

Her hands came up to his jaw, holding his face. His were around her waist, and gently pulled her body closer to him. Marjorie let out a soft sigh, finally leaning in fully and kissing him.
Everything felt complete, she felt happy, he felt like sunshine was running through his veins.
When they finally broke apart, Marjorie smiled up at him through her lashes, their foreheads resting against each others.
"You're gorgeous," Reece whispered, but the weight of his words were louder.
"I love you Reece Knight. I really do."
"I love you more Marjorie, I promise."
