I was currently sorting out the stock upstairs in the charity shop I worked at, when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I clicked the home button and saw that I had a text from Lauren. I'm not really supposed to use my phone when I'm working, but it wouldn't hurt to tell her to text me later... Right?

I unlocked my phone with a hint of excitement - I loved texting her, so I'm not even going to lie when I say I was excited. My smile soon changed into one of confusion when I read her text, however.

From: Love
Who is this?

What kind of question was that? I furrowed my eyebrows as I tried to think of a suitable response. Maybe she was playing some weird joke on me.

To: Love
It's postman pat, who else?

From: Love
Seriously, who is this? And who on earth is postman pat?

Is postman pat a British thing? I racked my brain and when I realised it was, I laughed to myself.

To: Love
Lol sorry Lauren. I forgot you don't know who that is. And come on. You know it's me, Y/N. Who else is as awesome as me?

I waited for her response, but weirdly enough, I didn't receive one. Maybe she was busy? I don't know, but I did know that I didn't have the time to be waiting around for her response, so I locked my phone and continued to do my job upstairs, thinking nothing of the weird text I received.

I spent the rest of the day working, and was extremely relieved to make it home in one piece. As soon as I entered my room, I collapsed on my bed and sighed tiredly. Who knew working was tiring? Well, I guess everyone did. Oh, well.

After getting into my joggers and a tee shirt, I went downstairs into the kitchen, only to find my mum sitting at the kitchen counter, writing in some sort of birthday card.

"Hey, mum," I smiled at her, giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek before heading to the fridge. "What are you doing?"

My mum was literally the kindest woman on earth. I'm pretty sure everyone says that about their mum, but I don't care. She and my dad are both amazing parents, and despite the amount of arguments we get into at times, I love them to pieces and are forever thankful for all they've done.

My dad works as a property salesman and is currently at work now, and my mum is a teacher at a primary school. All the kids love her and I can see why.

"Hey, (an embarrassing name your mum calls you)," she smiled at me, looking up from the card. She had her purse and a large gift bag on the counter, making me wonder where she was going.

"Mu-um," I whined playfully, pulling a Ribena carton out of the fridge and sitting on a stool beside her. "What did I say about calling me that?"

She laughed joyfully and shook her head with amusement. "You said not to call you it in public. We aren't in public, are we?"

I didn't reply because I knew she was right. All I did was roll my eyes and open my juice carton, blanking out her teasing smile.

"Anyway, I'm about to head out now," she said, placing the card in a gift bag that seemed empty.

"Where are you going?" I asked with furrowed eyebrows, before taking my phone out of my pocket and placing it on the counter.
