Four Months Later...
"Okay, so the bacterium has a flagellum to help it swim, but an animal and plant cell don't..."
I highlighted the information surrounding the diagram in my exercise book and tried to remember what I just read aloud to myself. For the past few months, I had non-stop been revising because my GCSE's were in less than two months and I had to pass them to get into college. Science, however, was something I absolutely despised and honestly couldn't get my head around. Hence me doing it for the fifth time this week.
The new year treated me well, and I never thought that I would be able to spend it wishing Fifth Harmony a merry Christmas and happy new year. Talk about plot twist. For the past four months, since Lauren and the girls visited in December, we had been talking as usual, except this time, I also conversed with the other girls a lot, too. It was much easier because Y/BF/N also talked to them so I no longer had to hide it from her, making my life a lot easier.
Talking to Lauren always made me feel overwhelmingly happy, and I honestly couldn't pin it, but she had some sort of effect on me. I enjoyed her presence all the time and actually started to miss it sometimes. It wasn't normal to be this attached to someone, and I began to get worried. I was oblivious to what this feeling was and it confused me to know, so I tried my best to push it back and ignore it. It was for the best, right?
"Meiosis and mitosis are types of cell division," I spoke aloud to myself. "Meiosis begins with-"
"Y/N?!"
I face-palmed and sighed at the sound of my mum calling me from downstairs. "Yes, mum?" I called back, hoping it was loud enough for her to respond to.
One thing I've noticed, and absolutely hate, is when my parents call me and when I respond, they don't reply back. Like, what is the purpose in that?
"Come downstairs, please," she called.
"I'm revising," I yelled back. "I'll be down later."
She didn't respond, so I assumed she understood. I looked back to my book and continued to try and learn the highlighted text.
"Meiosis is a type of cell division that begins with-"
"Y/N!" she called for me again, and I groaned loudly. She wouldn't stop if I didn't come already.
"Okay!" I gave in. "I'm coming!"
Sighing loudly, I jumped off my bed and lazily walked out of my room and down the stairs. Dragging myself to the living room, I saw my mum standing there excitedly. The grin on her face was beginning to creep me out.
"Um, what's up?" I asked, furrowing my brows.
I jumped over the banister and onto the couch, waiting for her to speak. She remained standing in front of me and the grin was still there. Seriously, I hadn't seen her this excited since she found out I passed my last Maths test.
"Right, how is revision for your exams going, love?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Are you serious? You called me away from my revision to ask me how my revision is going?" She didn't respond, so I stood up and made a move to the door. "Right, I'm leaving."
"Sit back down, Y/N," she used her motherly tone on me, causing me to reluctantly oblige. "I have something important to tell you."
I watched her. "Okay. Go on then."
She smiled and began. "As you know, you have to pass your GCSE's in order to get into Manchester College, correct?" I nodded, not seeing where she was going with this. "And you want to take a course about photography, right?"
