"AAAAAAAAH!"
"Stop screaming, Y/BF/N!" I laughed at her expression, rolling my eyes at the same time. She had been screaming with joy ever since I FaceTimed her about my 'get together' with Lauren.
"You're going on a date with Lauren Jauregui," she stated, looking as if she were unable to believe her own words. "What's not to be excited about?"
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Firstly, it's not a date, it's a get-together for my birthday. And if she hears you even mutter the word date, she'll kill you," I clarified, an amused smile on my lips. Though I knew it was the truth. "Secondly, I am excited, but I don't get why you are."
She gave me a 'duh' look as she replied, "Isn't it obvious?" I shook my head and she continued. "You guys are going to fall in love and get married and be together forever, duh."
I laughed at her wild imagination because I knew it was anything but the truth. I was about to respond, but heard a voice from downstairs.
"Y/N! Lauren's here!"
"I'm coming!" I yelled back, then looked back to Y/BF/N. "I've got to go now 'cause Lauren's here. I'll text you later, yeah?"
She smirked. "You got it. Tell her I said hey!"
"Will do." I chuckled and began to clamber off my bed. "And thanks for the birthday present by the way. I really missed eating Jammie Dodgers all the time."
You see, because it's my birthday, Y/BF/N and my mum both put together a box full of foods and drinks that I couldn't get here in America, such as Jammie Dodgers and Yorkshire puddings, and mailed them to me. I loved it and had a big enough supply to last me a very long time. It was almost as good a present as me getting to come to America.
She laughed. "No problem. See ya, Y/N."
I waved goodbye and hung up, assuming she would probably be going to sleep now. There was a good five hour time difference between L.A. and Manchester, so I always wondered how she had the energy to FaceTime me at such times. I loved her for it, though.
Next, I checked my appearance in the mirror, noting how causal my outfit looked. Lauren did say to wear something casual, so I hoped this wasn't too laid back. Once I was content with my appearance, I went downstairs to find Lauren and my aunt chatting away happily.
At first, they didn't notice my presence, and I found myself smiling already at how beautiful Lauren looked today, as usual. She had minimal makeup on, and her not-so-newly-cut hair was left out naturally, making me admire how different yet amazing she looked with it. As you can probably tell by now, I'm still not used to it.
When they finally saw me, they finished off their conversation and looked my way with smiles on their faces.
"Hey, Lauren." I smiled and leaned in to give her a hug.
She accepted my hug and grinned as she shouted, "Happy birthday, Y/N!"
I chuckled at her adorable expression. "Thank you, love. But no need for the shouting. I mean, I'm literally stood right next to you."
She shoved me playfully. "It's exciting, okay? Besides... who's the old one now, eh?" she teased with a smile. "You're seventeen years old!"
