Chapter 8 - Surprises

*****Cooper's Point of View*****

"Morning Coop!"

I looked up at Nurse Genella, who had entered with my tray. It was Sunday, so that meant special breakfast.

"It smells like bacon and eggs" I noted.

"That's because it is bacon and eggs" Nurse Genella said, sitting down.

"Oh, okay" I said, sitting up. Nurse Genella smiled.

"Why are you so happy today?"

"Oh, um, it's nothing." She said. "I guess I just woke up like this."

I shrugged and ate my breakfast. I actually finished it...something I hadn't done for a long time. I guess nurse Genella's positivity rubbed off on me a little.

"I'll be back later sweetie." she said, gathering her things. She winked at me on the way out. That was a little weird. I shrugged it off and turned to look out the window.

*****Rhett's Point of View*****

I drove up to the hospital parking lot. Link and I were going in to visit Cooper. I looked at my best friend.

"Are you ready to go and make some dreams come true?"

"I guess so." Link said.

We both climbed out of the car and started heading in. I remembered something.

"Link! Grab the bag of merch!" I called.

Link grabbed the orange bag and we walked into the reception area, where Adam was waiting. He had on a Make-A-Wish t-shirt, and had balloons and a wrapped box under his arm.

"You ready to head up?" he asked.

"Yep" I said confidently.

We went up to the third story and walked through the corridors to the ward. We stopped outside the door.

"Oh, hi guys."

We all turned to face a nurse. "You here to see Coop?"

"Yeah, we are" Link said.

"I'm so glad you came guys. She really needs it." the nurse said.

"Well, should we head in?" I asked.

The nurse opened the door and popped her head in. "Honey, there are some people here to see you."

*****Cooper's Point of View*****

"Uh, okay" I said, sitting up a little.

Nurse Genella stepped aside and Adam walked in, followed by two men who's faces were strangely familiar.

"You, you're Rhett and Link" I stammered.

"Yes, we are" Link said.

"And you're in my hospital room..."

"Correct again."

I pulled myself up a little. " Wow. I, uh, you guys are here, like, oh my goodness. Hi." I stammered, unable to think of anything else. I didn't know what else to say.

*****Link's Point of View*****

I looked at the girl on the bed. She didn't look very well, but she had this smile on her face from seeing us. She was shocked to see us, but it was a nice surprise.

"Do you guys want to sit down or something?" she asked, gesturing to some chairs. There were only two. Cooper shuffled up so she was sitting cross-legged. "And there's the end of the bed as well."
