"Let's go kids! Come on! We're going to be late!"
Locke and I rushed to the door and met up with everyone else. Tonight was the night of the concert. The most exciting night of my life. Adrenaline rushed through my veins, I was so excited that I was jumping up and down to work off the energy.
Rhett laughed. "Excited, are you?"
I nodded. "Very, very, very!"
Link smiled. "Well, let's go then!"
We walked down to the lobby and took the rental car to the venue. It was absolutely packed outside, and Rhett and Link got everyone t-shirts. Rhett even bought me two, which was exciting. I stuffed the second one into my bag and pulled the first one over the shirt I was already wearing.
"This is going to be the best!" I grinned.
Lily nodded. She had become quite the fan. "I hope they play all my favourites!"
I giggled in agreement. "I want them to play 'Hear Me', 'Trouble', and 'Fallen'."
"Let's go get in the line." Rhett said, pointing to the queue of people that appeared to be over a mile long.
Lincoln groaned. "What if me and Dad go and get dinner for everyone while you guys wait?"
Link shrugged. "Sounds good to me."
We split up. Locke, Rhett, Lily and I went to stand in the massive queue, while Link and Lincoln went to source some dinner for us.
"You look excited Super-Cooper." Rhett smiled.
I nodded. "I'm super excited. This is going to be the best night of my life!"
He smiled. "That's awesome."
Link came back with some hot-dogs, and I took a bite, before almost groaning in pleasure.
"Enjoying it, are we?" Link laughed.
I nodded. "This is a really good hot-dog."
"They really are!" Lincoln nodded.
We were standing around for about two hours. It was getting dark now, and everyone was growing excited. Lily and I were playing some imagine dragons on her phone, and it was pretty great. The people next to us were singing along too, and we ended up causing some sort of dance rave.
The line started to move. It wasn't very fast, but fast enough to cause a ripple of excitement through the crowd. We started to walk up, and that's when my head began to spin. Within minutes, it was throbbing in pain, and I was starting to feel a bit faint.
"H-Hey guys?" I asked nervously. "Is it alright if, if I go and sit down on that bench over there?"
"Are you okay Coop?" Rhett asked, immediately sounding concerned.
"Y-yeah, yeah, fine. I j-just need to sit down for a moment."
"I'll come." Rhett led me over and I collapsed onto the seat, tapping my foot on the ground to try and deal with the sudden outburst of pain.
"What's wrong Super-Cooper?" Rhett asked. He was sounding really concerned.
"Oh, um, just a headache, that's all." I lied, tapping faster. The pain was getting progressively worse.
"It doesn't look like just a headache."
Link walked over, looking just as concerned as Rhett. "Is everything okay?"
"Cooper's got a headache." Rhett explained, gently rubbing my back.
"I've got some aspirin in my bag if you want..." Link dug his hand into his bag to find it.
"N-No, that's not going to help." I muttered.
"Why not?" Link asked.
"Because aspirin can't cure brain tumors!" I snapped.
He backed off. "Oh, um... sorry."
I sighed. "S-Sorry."
"Coop, do you need me to take you to the hospital?" Rhett asked gently, taking my hand.
I closed my eyes and shook my head, despite the fact that the tears on my face were telling a different story. "I-I'll be fine. I just n-need some t-time. W-We have to g-go to the c-concert!"
Rhett bent down in front of me and looked into my eyes. "Cooper, I don't care about the concert right now. I don't care about the band. I don't care about everyone else here. I don't even care about Link. Right now, all I care about is you, and your health. If you say we stay, we'll go in, and if something happens, we won't have an easy way to get out out of there. So I'm going to ask you again. Do you need me to take you to the hospital?"
A tear ran down my cheek as I nodded.
"Let's go. Do you think you can walk?"
I nodded and pulled myself up off the bench. I made it all of two steps before stumbling. Rhett sighed and caught me, lifting me up into his arms. He carried me the rest of the way out to the car. I was crying, not just from the pain, but because I'd just ruined the best night of my life for both me and everyone else.
By the time we'd left the venue, the pain was getting so bad that I started screaming.
"Shh. You're doing so well Coop, we're nearly there."
"I-IT HURTS SO BAD!" I cried.
"I know, I know, just hold on a little longer."
We reached the emergency room, and after Rhett gave a brief explanation of what was going on, we were given a bed in a waiting room to be seen.
It was there, on that bed, that I passed out because the pain had gotten too great.
