"THIS is Uncle Randy's house?" I asked in utter disbelief.
"According to the address he sent me, yes." Link said. We both stared at the big house in front of us for a moment.
"I think we should head in." Link said, unbuckling his seatbelt and getting out of the car. I did the same uncertainty. The big house was rather intimidating.
We walked up to the big, wooden door and Link rang the doorbell. The sound echoed through the halls.
"Hey Coopy! You made it!" Uncle Randy said as he opened the door. "Come on in!"
Link couldn't stay, so I gave him a big hug before he started heading back to the car. To be honest, I didn't really want him to go, but he had videos to make, so I didn't say anything. I nervously followed Uncle Randy into the house.
"COOPER!"
I looked up to see two kids, a boy and a girl, running towards me at full speed. I braced for impact.
"Woah, woah, kids, calm down! She just got here!" Uncle Randy said, bending down to their level and pulling them into a big hug. They both giggled.
"Are these your kids?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yep!" The little girl giggled. "I'm Eliza, and this is my little brother Byron!"
"You're only two minutes older than me!" Byron exclaimed. Uncle Randy chuckled and stood back up.
"They're adorable!" I told Uncle Randy, who beamed proudly.
"Thanks Coopy. Come on, let's have some lunch." he replied.
I followed the family through to a joint kitchen and dining room, where a woman was putting a roast on the table. And I'm not going to lie, it made my mouth water. The roast, that is. Not the woman.
"Hi! You must be Cooper!" The woman bubbled, shaking my hand. "I'm Samara."
"It's nice to meet you." I said politely.
"Come sit down love, I made some lunch." Samara said, pulling a chair out for me. I noted her british accent. I guess Uncle Randy met her in London.
"Soo...." I said awkwardly. "How are you?"
"I'm good!" Eliza chirped. "After lunch, will you play Barbies with me?"
"Sure" I said. Eliza smiled at me.
Uncle Randy served everyone food and I began eating. It was all going okay.
"Hey Cooper..." Byron asked in the middle of the meal. I absentmindedly turned to him. "Do you have cancer?"
I almost choked on the food I had in my mouth. The kid looked at me, expecting an answer.
"Byron, uh, I'll talk you later about it bud." Uncle Randy said, his eyes darting around the table.
"It's okay." I interrupted. I turned to Byron. "Yeah, I do."
"Are you going to die?"
Well, this took a turn. Uncle Randy clamped his hand over his son's mouth while giving me an apologetic look.
"Uh...yeah." I said awkwardly. Samara placed her hand on my shoulder.
The rest of the meal was eaten in silence. I only got about half of my plate down before I gagged.
"Where's your bathroom?" I asked urgently, covering my mouth with my hand.
"What'd you say Coopy?"
I didn't have time to chat. I quickly got up from my seat and ran to the kitchen sink, before beginning to empty my stomach into it. "EWWWW!" Byron and Eliza yelled.
