I woke up early on Friday, for some reason. Rhett had told me we were doing something today, so I put on some reasonably nice clothes (Cooper code for skinny jeans and a t-shirt with my converse) and applied some makeup in the bathroom. I've never been a big fan of makeup, but it just sorta helped with my paleness and the fact that I don't have any eyebrows. Finally I pulled my beanie over the brown fuzz on the top of my head and walked out to the kitchen.
"Morning Super-Cooper!" Rhett smiled as soon as I sat down at the table.
"Morning." I chirped. Rhett was dressed in reasonably nice clothes too.
"What's the fancy occassion?" I asked.
"Hmm...somebody, at this table, is turning 15 today." Rhett announced.
My mouth fell open. "How'd you know?"
"Your uncle." Rhett smiled. "But that's okay. Happy birthday sweetie."
I blushed. "Thanks."
"So, what do you want for breakfast?" Jessie asked as she walked around the corner.
"Oh, nothing fancy." I chuckled awkwardly.
"It's your birthday! Come on, you need something fancy!" Jessie bubbled, putting her hand on my shoulder.
I blushed and squirmed in my chair. "Um, maybe, pancakes?" I asked shyly.
"Pancakes! Course honey, I'll make them now."
"Thanks Jessie, you're the best." I smiled. She beamed.
"No problems hun, happy birthday."
I blushed and looked down at the table awkwardly as Jessie went into the kitchen, whistling the happy birthday song.
"Happy Birfday!" Shepherd exclaimed as he raced into the room and wrapped me in a hug. I laughed.
"Thanks bud."
"Shep, can you watch Cooper and make sure she doesn't move while I go get the presents?" Rhett asked in a military-commander impersonation.
"Oh, you didn't, did you?" I asked, cringing.
"Of course Super-Cooper, it's your birthday! Now, commander Shep, are you up to the job?"
Shep saluted, and it was the cutest thing ever, while Rhett got up and left the room. Shepherd took his spot and stared at me with the cutest little protective stare I think I've ever seen.
"Can I, say, go get a glass of water?" I asked, toying with his adorable little act.
"No!" Shepherd yelled. I giggled.
"So, can I go to my room?"
"NO! No moving!" Shepherd giggled, starting to break character. He came and sat down on my lap.
"There. Now you can't move at all!" He giggled.
Jessie walked in and placed the fanciest place of pancakes I had ever seen in front of me. It was topped with ice cream and strawberries, and my mouth just fell open.
"Wow" I breathed.
"Can I have some birthday pancakes too Mom?" Shepherd begged, squirming on my lap.
"Course pumpkin, come on, tell me what you want on them." Jessie smiled, and Shepherd jumped off of my lap and raced into the kitchen. I tucked into the pancakes, and I will admit, they tasted absolutely amazing.
Rhett returned with a small pile of presents neatly wrapped in blue wrapping paper.
"Oh, do you guys do presents in the morning?" I asked, looking around.
