It's not like we didn't know this could happen. We had action plans in place, we had preparations, and we had all sorts of medical equipment back at the hotel.

But it still felt wrong that we had to use them. This was her dream holiday. This was her bucket list item. This was what she wanted to do with whatever time she had left.

And yet here we were. I was sitting beside her, quietly texting Jessie about what had happened as Cooper slept in the bed next to me, hooked up to about 5 machines, and a couple of drips on top of that. She was still wearing her concert shirt.

For the concert that she never got to go to.

And to rub salt in the wound, now she had to listen to Lily and Locke and Lincoln talk about it all the way home. They'd tell her about the songs they played, and the seats, and show her photos, and it would all be an attempt to make her feel better, but it would just make her feel awful. And she'd fake a smile, and try to seem happy.

It just wasn't fair.

"Hey, Super Cooper." I whispered. I knew she couldn't hear me, but that didn't matter. "I know you're not feeling too well right now, but Link and I are trying to organise something special for you."

She didn't respond, probably because she was asleep. I sighed softly.

"And I think you're really gonna like it."

I hadn't meant to sleep for 3 days, but I hadn't meant for a lot of things to happen. I hadn't meant to miss the concert, but yet here I was.

When I'd woken up, I'd cried for about an hour, mostly because nobody was here, and I was all alone in a new state and I'd just missed what was going to be the best night of my life.

Thankfully, Rhett came back after a while with a bag of take-away, which I wasn't allowed to eat, but at least I wasn't alone anymore.

"Did Link and the others have a good time?" I asked with a sigh, looking up at the ceiling.

Rhett nodded. "Yeah, they did. Look, don't worry about that. We'll sort everything out. Maybe we can go to another concert?"

"Like I'll have time." I mumbled glumly. "I'll be back in hospital before another one comes along. Maybe even dead."

"Cooper..."

"It's true." I sighed. "You can't dispute that."

"We'll sort it out." He assured me.

I just sighed again. I wasn't in a very good mood. Quite the opposite, actually. And some of ports connecting my body to the machines were starting to get a bit itchy.

"Don't scratch at them, Super Cooper."

"They itch." I mumbled.

"That doesn't matter. Don't scratch them."

I glared at him and continued scratching.

"Cooper! Seriously!" He pulled my hands away. "We don't want it to get infected!"

"Rhett, I don't even care." I muttered. "Let it get infected. Maybe I'd die. That'd be nice."

"Cooper!"

"It's true."

"No, it's not!"

"Yes it is."

He huffed slightly and wouldn't give me my hands back. "You're not scratching them."

"This is stupid."

"What's stupid, is your attitude."

I frowned. "You're not my Dad Rhett, stop acting like it."

"I'm your guardian, and I care a lot about you." Rhett told me.

"Still, you've only known me a few months. And you're not my Dad. You don't get to make me not scratch things when they're itchy. So I'm gonna do it. And you can't stop me!"

"Cooper whatever-your-middle-name-is Greene!"

I rolled my eyes. "Great parenting. You don't even know my middle name."

"You never told me."

"You have all my files."

"Well, I don't pay attention to that part."

I clapped sarcastically.

"Cooper! Come on!" Rhett seemed angry, almost. "Enough! I know you're upset but we're all doing our best for you at the moment and I really don't appreciate this! We've had to change flights, find a new hotel because our room was booked out, cancel some filming to do, this isn't a little inconvenience! Please stop!"

I started crying.

"I'm sorry." He mumbled, pulling me into a hug. "Shh. It's okay. I'm sorry."

"I-I'm s-sorry t-too." I stammered tearfully.

When I walked into the room, Cooper was crying and Rhett was trying to comfort her. I awkwardly joined the hug from the other side, avoiding pulling any of the tubes out.

"L-Link?"

"Mmm?"

"Y-You're crushing m-me..."

I leapt off. "Sorry Cooper."

"That's okay." She smiled. "It's good to see you."

I grinned. "It's good to see you awake."

"It's good to be here."

I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, glancing over at Rhett for the approval, before finding the video and putting it in her hands. "Here."

"What's this?" She asked, confusing lacing her words.

"Just watch."

"Hey Cooper." Dan Reyonds smiled into the frame. I watched her face light up in awe.

"H-How?!"

I pointed to myself, dancing stupidly in the background.

She laughed slighly, and kept watching.

"We're really sorry you couldn't make it to our show tonight." Dan said. "And so, we thought, why don't we bring the show to you?"

And then I watched Cooper's face as all four of the members of her favourite band walked through her hospital room door.
