Chapter 39-A Damsel in Distress

Danny's POV

I was totally taken aback by the fact that in the wave of notifications that I got, I was mentioned in a comment by a girl named Robin. I knew from Nina that she had a daughter named Robin, but what could've been the odds? I mean there are hundreds of thousands of people with the name Robin in the world.

And then I saw the picture. It was Nina's daughter. I recognised her from the photos Nina had pictures all over the living room with her. Something in the back of my head told me that I didn't want complications and that if I ever decided to get into a new relationship I wanted to be just me and her and build everything from scratch. But the other part of me told me I already did those things wrong far too many times already.

Somehow after all I've seen and heard the last two days I wanted to protect Nina, because she seemed like a nice woman. So, I decided to quicken up things a bit. After all the owner of Mahiki was a friend of mine and I didn't lack the company to go there if I wanted to.

"So, what are your plans for tonight?", asked Mark as I was playing with his oldest son.
"Nothing much, watch a movie, stay in the house. Just chill..."
"Liar, you did that yesterday. Are you sure you and your little neighbour didn't become more than just neighbours in the night you spent at her place?"
"I'm sure about that, because otherwise I wouldn't have been here alone."
"How did yez two hit it off?"
"Dunno something clicked. There's more to her than she allows everyone to see..."
"Hope she doesn't turn into a maniac like the others...really Danny you have such a bad track of relationships. Ever since we were teens something had to be wrong. Please take it slow this time and don't propose from the second date okay?"
"Yes mum I promise I won't...Jaysus Mark. Quit the ranting!", I said irritated.
"Oh and better ask auntie Agnes too...she is like a fecking hawk...sees everything."
"I'm not fucking asking anyone who I am or when I am allowed to date. I'm sick of this! No one knows what happened between me and Al! And no one has the right to butt in me private life!"
"Hold yer horses! Quit shouting at me and watch that dirty mouth! I don't want the kids to learn any new words! Tina would kill me!"
"Sorry...and by the way my neighbour as he call her has some baggage..."
"C'mon! You're the effin King of baggage! You could fill three planes with what you carry inside you!"
"Not that kind of baggage, she has a kid. A fifteen year old daughter to be more precise...and what did you mean by the last remark?"
"Nothing carry on..."
"You're such an ass sometimes!!!", I said back to Mark.
"Language!!! Dan!!!", I heard a female voice behind me.

Tina came into the living room followed by her daughter and holding her and Mark's youngest son in her arms. Her long blond hair was swept backwards into a ponytail and she was wearing a long cashmere sweater and a pair of leggings.

"Tell yer husband then to stop nagging me!", I said pouting.
"Mark stop nagging Dan, now what are ye two ladies talking about?"
"Ladies?! Baby!!! Dan has a neighbour and she is sexy and he spent his last night sleeping at hers and she has a kid."
"You had to say everything didn't you?", I replied back to Mark.
"Yes... I had to."
"Ok, if Dan wants to meet someone new he should. Not yer problem. Just like the sexy neighbour isn't yer problem either...And you...Dan please peel your eyes this time. And what if she has a kid?"
"I'm scared that I might not get along with her daughter."
"How old is her daughter?"
"Fifteen...she likes the band..."
"See common ground. If you wanna bond, bond over things that she may be interested in. It's not rocket science."
"Easy for you to say Tina...you're mother of four."
"Four?! Do I need to know something? Oh...you...you little.....argh!! I can't curse you!!!", screamed Mark.
"Okay better hit the road...I don't wanna be stuck in the London traffic.", I said hugging them both.

I was lying, lying through my teeth. I'm a terrible liar but somehow they managed not to figure it out. I was going home and then going to Mahiki. Just casually popping by...
