"Emily Stanislav! Get your butt outta bed!" Your eyes shoot open as it takes you a few minutes to figure out where you are.
You look around, noticing this is your old bedroom.
You blink while sitting up fast. You are not confused, nor are you foggy headed, everything that has happened is still freshly printed in your mind, but the only thing pulling at your soul is that voice.
You jump from the bed as your bedroom door opens, revealing the dark haired, reddish-brown haired, woman who holds the utmost importance in your heart.
You pause, staring blankly as she stares back confused, while placing a basket of whites down in front of your dresser.
'She's back.'
You let out an ear wrenching scream, one that was really too dramatic from the point of view of your household, but from your own, was perfectly normal.
Your scream turns into a loud sob, as you to your knees, your face buried into your hands as your mother runs up to your rather dramatic display of emotions, kneeling before you.
"Emi! What's wrong?" your mother asks concerns as your brother runs into your room, looking around, ready to attack if need be. Your heart felt as if it would give out, your thought process seemed to be broken as you couldn't stop the tears from pouring.
With everything that had happened, and now seeing your mother, for the first time since the funeral, it was all too much.
You look up at Alex, his dark green eyes looking down at you with concern, and mild annoyance. "What the hell are you screaming about?" Alex shouts, as he brushes back his loose strands of hair, puffing out his cheeks from his sprint into the room.
"No- I'm...sorry" you say in-between sobs as you tackle your mother into a tight embrace, "Mom!" you hold onto your mother so tightly, as she gives Alex a confused glance, while Alex mouths 'What wrong with her?'
"I missed you so much mom! I thought I'd never see you again!!" you refuse to let your mom go, to which she struggles against your angst-ridden teenage body. "Emi, I was only in the next room over, and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Now you need to start your day. I don't want you to be late for school."
"Aww, mom, you should stay home with me today." You try to pull yourself together, as she shakes her head no.
"You need to go to school. If you want to spend time with me, we'll have a games night soon!" your face pales as your mother takes your distracted moment to pull away from your embrace, and stand up from the ground. Alex grumbles something on the lines of 'that time of the month' and leaves to get ready for school.
You look around your room, never thinking you'd ever miss the ugly white walls and terrible baby-green carpets.
You're home.
Your mother makes sure that you are okay before leaving the room to get ready for her day.
