"EMI WAIT UP!" You look back as Maddie tries to catch up to you, somewhat out of breath. You smile as your best friend runs up to you on the staircase. You quickly stop what you are doing, and embrace Madelyn in a hug.

You both release at the same time, and continue up the stairs towards you mother's apartment.

It's been so long since you have seen her, probably third year Uni, when you and the gang got together last.

Since you graduated high school, you all went to different colleges and now hardly have time to visit. It's strange how people who were so close, have now become so distant.

Of course there is always skype, FB, and gmail, but it's really not the same.

The boys seemed to go to the same school, and they seem really busy, like unusually busy. They say the courses are extremely difficult, but if that was true, how did Josh get in?

Maddie went off to Brock University for nursing, and you ended up in Victoria for environmental studies.

You've come back home for the summer, visiting family, and friends but Maddie wanted to do something bigger this year, so now you are in the process of packing for a big trip to New York City.

Madelyn and Katie say it's something that you have to do at least once in your life, so here you are, packing and ready to head out the door.

Before you forget, you need to head into the apartment and get a book for the trip.

Katie steps out from your mom's apartment, holding her IPhone, a map, and a couple water bottles that she filled up in the house.

"Ok, I think this is it- Oh hey Madelyn, are you ready to go?"

"I believe so!" she answers, as you walk past Katie into your old home. "I can't wait to get there!" Madelyn announces with delight as you know it will be a long drive, about 8 hours- if traffic works in your favour.

"Oh before I forget, the boys are at Ryans house, and he asked if we could stop by before we leave." Katie says carefully as you find yourself wondering what Ryan would want. You two haven't spoken since-

"Do you want me to load these into the car?" Katie interrupts your thought process as she points to your bags. You nod, stepping away from the group into your room.

You don't see why you couldn't stop and see the boys before you left, you are running ahead of schedule anyways.

You go towards your bookcase, wondering which book you should read for the long trip. You skim through the shelves, looking over the books to choose from.
