You're devastated. Today was the day that he had to go into the maze. He was supposed to stay up here with you until the creators found out about the flare. He wasn't immune, but he didn't know that.
Newt. You're supposed to call him Newt now.
He walked over to you with a small smile. He rubbed your shoulder and kissed your forehead.
"It's going to be okay." He whispered. You hadn't noticed you were crying until he wiped your wet cheeks.
"But..what if it's not? What if you die in there!? What if you--"
"Shhh..it'll be fine. I'll see you again, okay?"
You sniffled and nodded your head slowly.
"Here," he yanked off the necklace he had around his neck and put it on you.
"I'll always be there with you, okay?" Once again, you nodded your head.
"Ready?" Joseph came and stood next to him.
"Wait.." He muttered. He took a deep breath and kissed you. Fireworks. Your stomach felt fuzzy. Once he let go, you wanted more.
"This isn't a goodbye, okay? I'll see you soon."
As Joseph took him, Newt would look back once in a while. You didn't stop looking even if it was just staring at his back.
Your hand held on to the pendant on the necklace as they walked away.
