Thomas was daring. Thomas was brave. Thomas was everything a Gryffindor was and everything that made him stay out of league for you.

As a Slytherin, you were often misjudged. People had this whole image of you, but they never got to really know you. It was very unfortunate, but Slytherins got used to it.

You sat in the dining hall staring at Thomas from your seat. He was surrounded by his friends who laughed and ate happily. Thomas was smiling at the table then looked up.

Coincidentally, he looked right at you. You probably had the dumbest smile on your face which you quickly tried to hide. You looked away and anywhere else. You decided to stare at your food.

You could still feel Thomas's eyes on you. Without physically moving your head too much, you looked again. He had his usual dimpled smile. He nodded his head towards an exit. He slowly got up, gave an excuse to his friends, and walked towards said exit.

It was against the rules to leave during dinner, but you couldn't help it. Your heart was hammering with excitement.
As you quietly made your way to the exit, a hand grabbed your wrist.

"Where are you going?" He asked with a scowl on his face.

You sighed and pulled your wrist from him. "To the loo, Draco. Or would you prefer I do my business all over this table?"

Upon Draco's disgusted face, you grinned. You heard him whisper "disgusting" in a high pitched voice to his two friends.

Once you found the exit, you looked around for Thomas. You found him leaning against a wall.

"Hello," you muttered. Thomas turned and grinned.

"Hello y/n," he replied.

Your heart swelled at the sound of your name. He knows your name.

"How do you know my name?" You smiled sheepishly at your black and green robes, then looked up at him.

"Newt talks a lot about you. He sort of fancies you."

"Oh. Really? I would never think someone would be interested in me." You were being extremely truthful. You thought about Newt then. He was always the kindest. He never seemed to be bothered by the house you were in.

"Why not?" Thomas was intrigued by this. He definitely saw why Newt was so interested in you. You didn't feel as entitled as other students in your house and you definitely didn't think you were better than everyone else.

"I'm nothing special," you told him.

"Sure you are! You're a Slytherin where—"
"Everyone thinks we're killers or after Harry or Voldemort's followers." You finishes his sentence for him.

Thomas gasped. "You said his name."

"I'm not afraid of him. Okay, that's a lie, I am. However, I'm not going to let Voldemort have this power over me where I can't even say his name."

Thomas grinned. "You are so very brave. Why are you Slytherin?"

"Is it bad to be?"

"No! No way. I was just wondering if you had a clue."

"Well, no. My whole family has been Gryffindor. I'm the first Slytherin. I felt ashamed at first, but I'm proud to be who I am. Plus, my family does not love me any less."

"You're a pure blood," Thomas stated softly. He suddenly shrunk. He seemed smaller than he had been, less secure. Yet, he always stood so tall.

"So?"

"I-I'm a mud—"

"Don't! Don't ever use that term, got it? You are a wizard. You're a Gryffindor. I've seen what you can do, Thomas. You belong here. Don't use degrading terms for yourself, ever."

Thomas looked at the floor and smiled. "You are so kind, y/n." He moved closer towards you. He caressed your cheek with his right hand.

You looked up at him and smiled. He was such a beautiful person. You could feel both of your faces pulling closer to each other's.

"Thomas?"

You both sprang apart quickly. Your heart was beating quickly. The feeling of being "caught" excited you and terrified you at the same time.

"Newt," Thomas replied, surprised. He had not expected to be found in that situation. His initial plan had been to help Newt.
