Why is the sun so bright? Did I seriously just ask that?

I woke up to a loud ruckus. The girls were doing who knows what, but they were being very noisy. They almost tipped over the T.V luckily I woke up in time. I certainly don't have money to replace it.

I look over at the clock and see that it's 8 o'clock. I cover my face with the sheets and groan loudly. I sound like a dying whale.

I get up and go to the shower. The warm water felt good against my tense muscles. I had almost forgotten what warm water felt like. I just wanted to stay in there all day. Sadly I couldn't.

While I was washing my hair I went through a checklist of all the things I had to accomplish today. I did most of my thinking and decision making in the shower. Today included: going to the bank, check the car, call my brother and check out of the hotel. I also have to slide in time to feed the girls.

I lost complete track of time, my finger tips had shrivelled and looked wrinkled. I turn off the water, got out of the shower and got dressed. I put on some shorts, a black shirt and wrapped a red and black flannel around my waist. I laced up my black combat boot and started to get the girls showered, dressed and hair combed.

We make our way down the streets to the repair shop. The streets are very crowded as expected. I held the girls hands and we made our way through the crowd. God I hate the city.

I see my car in the shop but it doesn't look ready. This worries me. I sit the girls down on a bench and walk over to the man fixing my car.
"Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking, what's wrong with the car?" I ask hesitantly.
"Well it's more than just a dead battery. I think someone was messing with the cables. I need to order new ones because these are all ripped or maybe clipped." He explained.
"Exactly how long would that take?" I asked.
"I should have it ready on Tuesday. Maybe Monday."he stated.
"Ok, how much would the cables be?"
"The total comes out to $120."
I give him the cash and thank him one last time. There goes the last of my money.

I call my brother and decide to tell him about the predicament we're in.
"Jacob?" My voice sounded defeated.
"Jade, how's it going? Are you on your way back now?"
"Here's the thing. I had some car trouble and now we are stuck in L.A."
"Do you need me to come get you, do you need more money?"
"We're fine the car will be ready in two days or so."
"How are the girls?"
"They are fine. It turns out they really like pushing elevator buttons. Learned that the hard way."
"I know they are in good hands, call me if you need anything."
"Alright, bye." Well there goes that plan.

Why does everyone tell me that? Do I look helpless or something?

After I hung up I didn't know what to do. I skipped going to the bank. I knew I had no money left by now and I probably owed them money. I have no idea how I'll pay for another night at the hotel.

So I took the girls to a nearby park. They looked like they were having the time of their life. They're so young. I wished I could go back to that age. No bills, no responsibilities. I see Marie motion towards me. She wants me to get on the playground with her. I felt like a giant, but it brought back memories. I was enjoying myself. I was laughing so hard tears were trickling down my face. I never realized how much I love spending time with my nieces.

I see movement in a bush, but I just shrug it off.

I hear screaming and look to the street. There is a black car being followed by screaming girls. I laughed at how ridiculous they looked.  Then again, They must have real dedication. I ignore it and enjoy my time with my nieces.
