Once you get about 10 minutes away from the house, the rain starts to come down. Not hard at first, but after a minute its really coming down. "Hey, let's get off here and pull over at a gas station. Maybe it'll let up." Mitch suggests. You take his advice and get off the interstate. You pull over at the closest gas station.
You both get out and walk into the store. "Y'all expecting the rain to let up?" The lady at the counter asks. You nod your head. "Well, the forecast is saying its gonna be raining like this for hours. They're already sending out warnings for wind advisory."
You sigh. Great. Just great. You were going to have to drive in all this rain. "Well. I guess we might as well head back out." Mitch says. "I'm actually going to grab something to snack on." You tell him. He nods his head as you go and grab a drink from the cooler.
You go up to the counter and set it down. "Anything else sweetheart?" She asks. "Only other thing I need is for the rain to stop."
"Believe me. I would stop it if I could. Here you go. Good luck." You smile and say thank you while walking out. You climb back into the car with Mitch. Once you start the car, you turn the radio down. "It might keep us from crashing." You tell him. He smirks. You pull out of the parking lot and back onto the interstate into the pouring rain.Your just turning onto the street you used to live on when your phone starts to buzz. It was telling you that the wind advisory was even higher here. Mitch turns down the volume for you. You smile as a thanks and start to look for his house. Then you see it.
It was the same as it always was. Except that there were three cars in the driveway. Two black SUVs and what you were guessing was his mom's car. "Your mom is here?" He nods his head. "Why didn't you tell me? I haven't seen her in forever."
He just shrugs. "I didn't think about it. I thought she wouldn't still be here, but she was probably waiting for me to make it back." You smile and pull in next to her car. "Do you have an umbrella?" You shake your head.
"We're just gonna have to run for it." He smiles. "1..2..3!" You both jump out of the car, slam the doors, and dash to the front door. Mitch knocks on the door. "A little weird knocking on my own front door." You laugh. Then someone opens the door. It was his mom.
"Mitchell! I've been wondering when you would get here." She hugs him and then turns to you. "And you are?" You smile. You had changed a lot. It didn't surprise you that she didn't remember.
"It's me Ms. Grassi! (Y/n)." Her eyes widen. She grabs you into a hug. "What happened to you! You've changed." She says looking you over. You blush. "Come on in."
You follow the two of them in, closing the door behind you. "Hey guys! Mitch and (y/n) are here!" She yells. Scott and Kevin walk in from the kitchen. And Kirstie and Avi walk down the stairs. They all smile and then sit down somewhere.
"So, what all happened?" Scott asks. So you tell them most of what happened. The phone call, getting her the previous afternoon, eating, and leaving this morning. You leave out everything about you and Mitch. You would let him tell them if he wanted them to know. They smile and nod.
"So, I guess I should head out." You say. You can see the look in Mitch's eyes. He doesn't want you to leave.
His mom looks out the front window. It was still coming down. "You don't need to be going anywhere in this weather. Its already bad enough that you had to drive here in that. You can stay here the night. That okay with everyone?"
They agree, especially Mitch. He was definitely happy. "(Y/n) can stay in my old room. I can take the couch." His mom smiles. "That'll be good. Do you still remember where it is?" You slightly do, but not very well. "Well, Mitch can show you."
He smiles and gestures for you to follow him up the stairs. You follow after him. When you get to the top, he goes into the first door on the left. As you go in he asks you to close the door. You do but ask why.
"I have a question." He says.
"Okay, shoot."
"Do you want to tell the group about us?"
"As long as its okay with you. We can tell them later today." He nods his head, agreeing with you. You smile and stand up. You walk over to the window. You pull the blinds up looking out. The current situation brings back an old memory. You have a small flashback.
