*(Y/n) POV*
You wake up to Mitch lightly shaking you. You groggily sit up straighter and look over at him. He grins. "You sure were tired. Slept the whole way here." He laughs at you but you just roll your eyes and start to climb out of the car. He follows in suit.
He walks over to you after climbing out of the car. "Do you remember?" He asks. You look around at the woods that surrounded you. It had a light smell of pine and maple which you remembered distinctly. "Of course I remember." You say.
Mitch smiles at you. "I was hoping you would. I wanted to take you somewhere special. I thought this was a good and convenient place to pick." You give him a lingering hug and he hugs back. "Thanks for taking me here. One of the few places I have only good memories of."
He pulls away from the hug. "Well let's not make any bad ones today." You grin at his optimism and follow him into the area thicker with trees. As you walk you interlace your fingers with his and he smiles down at you. Even though you were dating him you couldn't help but blush and look away. He smirks and then stops walking. "We're here."
You stop and look up at the old tree house you would spend hours in when you were younger. Your family owned the land and so you and your dad had built it together(ish). You would come up with friends to camp sometimes and hang out in the tree. Both climbing it and sitting inside it.
You look over at Mitch. "Wanna climb it?" You ask, a sparkle in your eyes. His grin grows and he starts to climb up the branches. You get a late start but still beat him to the tippy top branch. You lean back against the trunk if the tree and wait for to make it up to your level.
He's panting when he makes it up there and sits down next to you. "Not as active as you thought you were." You say. He fake glares at you but you just continue laughing. "Anything you wanted to talk about specifically?" You ask. He smiles happy to change the subject and brings out a few ideas.
For the next hour or two you both talk about the old days and the fun you used to have. The memories were helping you bring your spirits up. "We had so much fun back then." Mitch says, looking out at the perfectly blue sky.
"Well its not like we can't have fun now." You say. He looks over at you, curiosity lacing his features. "What kind of fun are we talking about here (y/n)?" He smirks. Your smile falters and you begin to blush a deep red after realizing what you had just said implied.
"Well...um...we could...I don't really kn-" he cuts you off there. "Its okay. I think I know what you meant." He says, moving closer. You blush again looking down. "Come on. Look at me." He pleads. You smirk and look up at him. "That's better." He replies quietly, brushing a strand of your hair behind your ear.
He leans in and plants an eager kiss on your lips. You can tell he had been waiting for this because he was trying to hold back his eagerness, but failing. You embrace it though and throw your arms around his neck pulling him closer to you. He seems surprised but soon goes along with it, pulling you flush against his body wrapping one arm around you waist and the other up behind your neck.
Your face starts to heat up bit as he starts to play with the hair at the nape of your neck. You try and ignore it but it was distracting. "Mitch." You whisper into the kiss. You feel him grin as he lightly pushes you up against the trunk of the tree. He pulls out of the kiss and looks at you.
"Looks lik we made another happy memory." He says. You smile and give him a peck on the lips. "Yep....race you to the bottom?" You say. He rolls his eyes backing up. "You can jump so it wouldn't be fair." You shrug your shoulders as if to say true, true.
"Well let's head down. I'm starting to get hungry." You say starting to slide down to some lower branches. Once you make it to the third one from the ground, about 6 feet, you jump and land on you feet.
You could tell by the look on Mitch's face as he eased himself down that he was still surprised that you could do that. You laugh as he walks over to you. "Its just the acting sweetheart. It comes in handy to have the training sometimes." He just grabs your hand and leads you back to the car.
You sigh. Even though most of your day so far had consisted mostly of sleeping, it was still nice. You wondered if Mitch had anything else planned for the two of you for the rest of the day. Even if he didn't, the two of you would come up with something.
But either way you still climb into the car hopeful that the rest of the day would go well. You even smile and sing along with some of the songs that come on the radio all the way up until your about 15 minutes away from Mitch's old place.
He was going to be taking you back there with him to stay with him. You had already called (fr/n) to make sure it was okay. But as you drove through that one intersection, singing your heart out to "What's Forever For" by Billy Gilman(good song), someone else decide to run a red light. In less than a second they were crashing into the passenger side door.
