KATNISS'S POV
I was right. I see Gale leaning against our old rock. As I am walking towards him I accidently stepping on a stick. The cracking sound causes him to jump a little before turning to me. I walk down to him leaving at least 7 feet between us. I ask him
"What do you want Gale?"
He looks at me and says sadly
"I wanted to see you"
This nudges my anger which causes me to throw at him
"After 10 years? Good timing huh?"
"Katniss.."
He begins looking at me, his eyes filled with guilt. I him off before he can continue
"No Gale. It's too late. I don't need you coming back to try fix something beyond repair"
He says to me pleading
"Katniss,...I love you. Leaving was the biggest mistake of my life...I promise if you just give me a chance"
He steps closer to me and reaches for my hand but I pull away and step backwards away from his reach. I feel my eyes stinging but I force myself to conceal my tears. I tell him my voice cracking
"No Gale. I don't feel that way about you. I don't feel anything for you but hate! I'm in love with Peeta Gale!"
He suddenly looks slightly angry and says
"You actually love him?"
I scream at him
"I'm engaged to him Gale!I never loved you that way and NEVER WILL! And anyway you can't just expected to show up after 10 years of no communication and think I'm just going to jump into your arms and forget it all!"
His eyes are also filling up with tears as he says
"Katniss please..."
I tell him through gritted teeth as my eyes burning with the salty tears I am struggling to contain them
"No gale! You were my BEST FRIEND and when I needed you the most you left me here..... alone Gale! You are selfish! If you cared for me you wouldn't have left me! I will never forget all you have done to me! You killed my sister and LEFT ME!"
Now tears are rolling slowly down Gale's face he says
"Katniss you know that was never meant to happen...."
I say back breaking down as the first and only tear streams down my face
"But it did Gale! She was all I had and you took her from me!!!! She was the only person I was certain I loved and she's gone because of you! And you didn't even apologise after realising! You ran Gale....You've been running from this since it happened! And you know what? It's too late. There's no going back.....Goodbye Gale"
I then turn away from him and run. I hear him yell
"I'm sorry!"
. The tears are starting to fall slowly though I know they will all fall rapidly as soon as I'm at home.
