"What do you mean you're 'scared?'" I let go of Bruno's hands and fiddled with my own. "I was in an abusive (physical) relationship for three years, yet married for five. I had got pregnant, and the baby didn't survive. It changed my life. You see this scar on my face?" I pointed to my cheek. "It was a turning point in my life. That's why I'm a lawyer. I have to stay busy to keep my mind off of that stuff. I just don't think I'm ready to give my heart to someone just yet." I said. Bruno grabbed my hand again. "I would never, ever, want to hurt you." Bruno hugged me. "I won't force you to do anything. I just want you to know that...that I love you, I care about you, and I just want you to feel the same way." Bruno whispered in my ear. He kissed my cheek. He let go of me. "Come on, let's go watch that movie I said we'd watch." Bruno smiled. He held my hand and led me to the couch. It had never occurred to me that he felt that way about me. I had never even thought about him that way, I just saw him as a caring man.
