Judge Davis, an older man who was tough. His sharp, piercing eyes, could look through you, and you could feel like a runt in a second. This was going to be tough. This is my first court case with Judge Davis, but I've heard many stories of him, and they weren't positive. "Good afternoon." Davis said, making no eye contact with anyone in the courtroom. "Good afternoon." The people of the court retorted. "You may all be seated." His voice was intimidating. He opened his files, and skimmed through them. The sound in the room was awkwardly silent. "How are yo...." Bethany tried to break the silence. Judge Davis put his hand up and said, "You are allowed to speak when given permission. As of right now, be quiet." I was laughing on the inside, but I had to play smart. I couldn't let him see me snickered. "Bring in the suspect." The judge said. Most of the time, the debate takes place first, before the suspect is brought in. Not to Judge Davis. The sheriff brought in the shackled Jacob Felix. His skin was beige, and his hair was curly, but slicked down with gel. My stomach twisted in so many ways, I felt sick. I had to remain calm. "Ms. Peters, I will start with you. What is your view on Mr. Felix. Do feel that he should be sent to a correctional center? Or do you oppose this view? Tell the court why." Judge Davis said. I took a deep breath.
