I woke up late on Saturday morning, and I had promised to go over to Lynn's house that morning. My parents weren't home, but I told her it probably wasn't a good idea for her to come over. I didn't want her to experience my parent's personalities in case they got home early.
I rolled out of bed and checked the time. It was already 11:30 and I had to be there by 12. I didn't have time for a shower so I slipped on some ripped jeans and a black t-shirt. I threw an old hoodie on over it before putting on socks and slipping my feet into my vans.
I brushed my teeth and did my makeup quickly, not wanting Lynn to see me looking like complete shit. I was too lazy to do anything with my hair so I just put it up in a bun and decided that it was good enough. I grabbed my phone and bag, along with my wallet in case we went anywhere. I walked down the stairs slowly and ignored the pictures on the wall, back when my parents still cared. It was easier to just pretend like I didn't exist.
I walked out the front door and toward the shitty old Honda that my parents let me use sometimes. They never really knew when I was home or not, so I figured they wouldn't notice if I used it. Plus, I didn't really feel like walking to Lynn's house that day. I pulled out the driveway and started on the way to her house. I would be ten minutes late, but I didn't think Lynn would mind. It was around a 7 minute drive to get there, and once I pulled into her driveway, I saw the front door open.
I got out of the car and walked up to the front porch, watching Lynn's face light up. "Hey there, Alex," she chimed, letting me inside. "Hey," I said, turning around to look at her. She closed the door and took my hand, leading me up the stairs to her room. "My parents aren't home, sorry. You want to watch a movie or something?" Lynn asked me, sitting on the edge of her bed. I sat down beside her, playing with her hair. "Sure. Oh man, you need a haircut, this shaved part is growing out a lot," I told her, ruffling her hair.
She swatted my hand away, sticking her tongue out at me. "Shut up, I know. I'm too scared to shave it myself though, I don't want to die," she laughed, playing with my hand. "I can do it for you," I offered. She looked over at me, her eyes narrowing. "Should I trust you?"
I rolled my eyes at her. "I'm not going to kill you, loser. In fact, it'd look good with both sides shaved," I suggested, running my hands through her hair. "Okay...but only if you give me fishy kisses first," she demanded, chuckling lightly. "What the hell are fishy kisses?" I wondered, a confused expression in my face. Lynn groaned and puckered her lips, pecking my lips quickly twice. "There."
"Okay, let's do this," I announced, standing up. I followed Lynn into the bathroom and watched as she pulled out clippers, plugging them in. She sat down on the side of the bathtub and I turned the clippers on, positioning her head so I could buzz the right spot. "Ready?" I asked. Lynn nodded and I began re-shaving the same spot, extending it a little further.
Once I was done, I gave Lynn a mirror and she smiled. "You did it! Other side?"
I nodded, then began on her other side. I went slower this time, since there was no direct lines for me to follow. The whole process took about 20 minutes, which wasn't too bad. Once it was all done, Lynn jumped up and gazed at her hair in the mirror. She beamed, a large grin spreading across her beautiful face. "I love it!" she exclaimed, kissing my cheek. "I really want to shave my head, too, but my mom would kill me if she noticed," I sighed, shaking my head.
Lynn frowned, just before her eyes lit up. "We could give you an undercut. Since you have long hair, she wouldn't notice unless you put your hair up," she suggested, elbowing my side. I swatted her away, thinking about it. I would have to be careful, but then again, it's not like my mother ever really payed attention to me. "Okay. Let's do it then," I agreed, sitting where Lynn had been while I was doing her hair.
Lynn started parting it, tying most of my hair in a bun and leaving the underside down. I bounced my leg up and down nervously, hoping that it would turn out okay. Lynn turned on the clippers and I felt my hair fall past my shoulders as she continued to buzz it. I closed my eyes until she unplugged the clippers, wiping away the excess hair around my neck, "All done! It looks so good!" Lynn told me excitedly, touching my neck.
I smiled at her and looked in the mirror, inspecting the shaved section. "Thank you," I said, turning around to look at her. I glanced down at her lips before kissing her slowly, allowing myself to stand a bit closer to her. "You're welcome, babe," she whispered, causing me to blush. She had never called me that, and although we had only been dating for 3 days, whenever I was around her, everything seemed sort of okay.
I buried my face in her neck, hooking my arms around her waist for a moment.
We cleaned up the bathroom quickly before going back to her room, sitting down on her bed again. I leaned against the headboard before glancing over at her guitar. "When are you gonna play me a song?" I wondered, sitting up straight. Lynn shrugged, scooting a bit closer to me. "When I have something to play for you, I guess," she answered, kissing my cheek.
"Let's watch a movie," I said, moving into her lap. Lynn giggled, wrapping her arms around my waist. She pulled her laptop over and set it on my lap, clicking on some options. "Oooh, let's watch Star Wars," I suggested, pointing at the screen.
Lynn started the movie and I leaned against her, holding her hands that were still wrapped around my frame. I didn't want to go home, but I knew I had to at some point. I put that thought out of my mind and tried to enjoy the comfort of Lynn's body pressed against mine.
The butterflies in my stomach never fully went away, but her even breaths calmed me down, until I eventually fell asleep in her lap.
