It was awhile before Luke finished the lyrics of the song, since it had to be perfect, and express everything he felt.

When he finally was finished, he went looking for Paris. There was absolutely no sound coming from her room, which was slightly unusual, but she could have been asleep.

"Paris?" Luke asked softly, peeking his head in her door.
It was enough to see her, curled into a fetal position on her side, crying silently, with her phone laying near her head.
Her eyes cracked open, dried tears on her face.
"What's wrong?"
She didn't even respond, she just shook her head, and turned away.
"Hey," Luke said gently, walking over to her quickly and sitting down beside her. "What's going on?"
"Just go," Paris whispered, turning away.
"You should know by now that I'll never just walk away and leave you crying," Luke said with a sad smile.
He knew she would never move, being stubborn, so he slid his arms under her body, picking her off of the bed and cradling her close to him as he sat her on his lap.
"Are you gonna tell me what's wrong now?" He asked.
"Everything," she whispered.
At this, he finally looked at her properly, into her eyes, and what he saw scared him.
Her eyes, which were usually so animated and full of life and emotion, even while she cried, were dead and empty.
"Paris..." Luke said. "You're scaring me."
She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before opening them again.
"It's true though, isn't it?" Her voice was a monotone.
"No, no it's not," Luke said immediately. "There are a million things that are right, and well."
"Yeah," Paris said faintly, her eyes unfocused.
"Seriously Paris what's going on? You're really scaring me now," Luke said worriedly.
The haze that had formed over Paris's face cracked.
"Why doesn't anyone love me?"
Luke's heart immediately shattered.
"Is it something about me?" She asked, almost to herself. "I mean, is it just some sort of aura that radiates from me, screaming NO NO NO?"
"No, not at all," Luke said soothingly.
"Then why Luke?" Paris said desperately, sounding almost frustrated.
Her voice cracked. "Why does no one love me?"
Tears were coming from her eyes in torrents, and Luke was doing all he could to wipe them away.
"My parents don't love me, not really! I haven't seen my family in ages! Jake only wanted me for sex! And now he's told everyone my biggest, most embarrassing fear! Why does no one love me?!"
Luke's mind was haywire. All he wanted was to tell her, tell her that he loved her.
And though all the excuses he had used were running through his mind, suddenly, they didn't matter.
"Paris, listen to me," Luke said seriously, causing Paris to look straight into his eyes and hold his gaze, her mouth grimly set.
He sighed. "This isn't how I wanted to tell you. I wanted it to be special, and I wanted it to feel like the only reason I was telling you was because it was true."
She looked worried.
"But I just can't anymore. I can't wait. I'm sorry."
He took a deep breath.
"Paris Eve Hadley, I love you more than anything in this entire world, and I've wanted to tell you for months now, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. First it was because you were with Jake, and then it was because you were heartbroken. And I had all of these excuses not to tell you, but the truth is is that I was terrified. I thought that you would never love me, that I had lost my chance, and that I was sat squarely in the friend zone. But now, seeing you like this... I couldn't keep it to myself anymore. I had to let you know that I love you and that I would do anything for you. And even if you don't feel the same, you know that somebody loves you more than the whole world."
Paris's face was a mix of surprise and shock.
"What?"
"I love you," Luke repeated. "And I'd do anything for you. And all I want is for you to be happy. And it's killed me for ages to see you and not being able to be the reason you smile or be the hand you're holding or the body you cuddle up to at night. I love you."
Her eyes were widened slightly and filled with happy and sad tears now, and her mouth was partially agape.
After a moment her face broke out into a smile, the joyful and mournful tears leaking from her eyes.
"Luke," she said, tears streaming down her face. "I love you too."
Luke looked surprised but overjoyed.
"But I'm scared," she continued, her voice cracking.
Luke's face fell. "What? Why? Why are you scared?" He asked gently.
"I just-I don't wanna get hurt again, Luke," Paris said softly.
Luke's heart broke for what seemed like the millionth time that day at how broken and scared she sounded.
"I would never hurt you," Lukd said earnestly. "I promise."
"I know you wouldn't, but..." She trailed off, her eyes welling up with tears. "Sometimes we don't realize the promises we're making when we make them."
"Don't quote The Fault In Our Stars to me," Luke said firmly but not unkindly. "We won't end in tragedy."
"But how do you know?" Paris burst out. "You love me now, but things change, and I'll stop seeming cute and start seeming needy and irritating."
Luke looked at Paris fiercely. "Paris Eve Hadley, I have fallen madly in love with you. I couldn't stop loving you if I tried. I want to be the one who hugs you so tight all of your broken pieces fit back together, just like you always said you dreamed of. I want to be the one who sits in the crowd screaming your name as you accept awards for your writing. I want to be the one to look you in the eye and say "I do" at the alter. I want to be the one who is lucky enough to spend the rest of their life with you. I love you."
A single tear trailed down Paris's face at Luke's second proclamation of love that day.
"Really?" She said, barely daring to believe it.
"Really," Luke answered, staring into her eyes.
She nodded slowly, one more year making a track down her cheek. She swiped at it hurriedly and nodded more furiously. "Okay."
"Okay?" Luke asked, his face lighting up.
"Okay," Paris smiled. A real smile. With teeth. One that made her eyes glow.
"So..." Luke said, not sure what to say.
"What now?" Paris asked.
"How about I take you on a real date?" Luke proposed, more a question than an answer.
"That sounds nice," Paris said with a smile.
"I could take you to my favourite café?" Luke said hesitantly.
"Do they have coffee?" Paris asked with a gentle laugh that made Luke's heart soar.
"The best," he said in reply.
"Then I'm down," Paris replied.
"And I know now," Luke began to sing.
"That I'm so down," they finished together.
They both broke out in a grin.
"We're perfect for each other," Luke said.
"You're such a softie," Paris teased.
"I know you think it too," Luke told her.
"Maybe we are," Paris relented.
"No maybe about it, babe," Luke said with a playful smirk.
Paris's eyes lit up in happiness and surprise as she blushed at the nickname.
Luke smiled, knowing that he had made her that happy.

Suddenly, the smile dropped off Paris's face. "What about the fans?"
"What about them?" Luke asked in confusion.
"What will they think? Are we even going public? W-" Paris began to fret.
Luke put his arm around her. "Shhhh, baby it'll be okay. The fans love you. And you've got me and the boys and management to keep you safe from the ones that don't. And yes, we are definitely going public."
"I don't need everyone to know, if that's what you're thinking," Paris said quietly. "Just being with you is enough for me."
"Oh I know," Luke said. "But I want the whole world to know you're mine."
Paris blushed again. "I'm not special."
"Okay that's a lie," Luke said. "1. you're special to me, 2. you're famous so that's bullshit anyway."
Paris giggled. "You always have had a way with words."
"Won you over though, didn't I?" Luke smiled, nudging Paris with his shoulder.
"Yeah, I guess you did."
