(yeah I make edit or sommat)
About a week of travelling across Australia and two shows later (I may or may not have freaked that there was actually a place called Townsville), we were getting ready to leave Straya behind.
Dressed in a floral printed navy blue sheer shirt, jeans, and a loose grey knit cardigan, my combat boots clicked on the grimy tile of the airport as we made our way through the crowds towards our gate.
The echo of the wheels of my carry on rolling across the floor reverberated in my ears, standing out amongst the noise of the throng.
"Ready for New Zealand?" Calum asked me as we sat down outside the gates.
I nodded with a smile. "Looking forward to exploring a new place."
"You're quite adventures," Ashton commented.
"I wouldn't be if I didn't have you guys with me," I confessed.
"I could never do this alone," Michael agreed.
"At least in a band you have other people who know how you feel," Luke nodded.
"And me!" I reminded them with a smile.
"And you," Calum chuckled, shaking his head at my antics.
Just then, our seats were called to board, and we stood up to get on the plane with the rest of the passengers, excited and apprehensive for our journey.
----
After a really long plane ride in which I fell asleep on Luke's shoulder with Twenty Øne Pilots playing in my earbuds, Tyler Joseph's voice lulling me to sleep.
Next thing I knew, Luke was whispering in my ear to wake me up, telling me that we'd landed.
We got off the plane, met a small crowd of fans that we chatted with before we were whirled off through security and customs and baggage and before we knew it we were in another tour bus.
It was literally identical to the other one, and we took our same bunks.
Seeing as it was 11:30 pm and I was exhausted, I changed into one of Ash's shirts that I'd stolen and curled into a ball under my covers, quickly falling asleep.
---
Luke's P.O.V.
"I think she's asleep," Calum commented, gazing over to Paris with a find smile.
Sure enough, if you were quiet you could hear her quiet breathing.
"She's wearing my shirt," Ashton chuckled.
"She's adorable," Michael giggled as her eyelashes fluttered a bit.
"She's perfect," I sighed quietly.
The boys all laughed.
"You've got it bad, Mate," Calum said.
"I know," I told him.
"Are you gonna tell her soon?" Ashton asked.
"I don't know," I said. "I don't want to ruin our friendship."
"That's bullshit and you know it," Michael huffed. "You're just scared."
"That too," I conceded. "And what about the fans, you know? I don't want her to get hate. After Arzaylea..." (I had to look up how to spell her name bc she's so irrelevant tbh)
"Arzaylea is a heinous bitch who only wanted you for your fame and money," Michael reminded me. "Paris is a sweetheart who loves the band and the fans and you. She doesn't care about any of the other stuff."
"She doesn't love me," I muttered, before stating loudly. "Okay true, she's nothing like Arzaylea. Thank god. But she still gets hate now. Imagine if we were together?"
"I think at least 95% of the fans would ship you guys avidly," Ashton put in.
"I mean, your story is kind of cliché," Calum nodded.
"It's cute," I frowned.
"Awwww, baby Lukey's pouting," Calum teased me.
"Well it is cute."
"It would be cuter if you guys were together," Michael said slyly.
"It'll just happen when it happens, guys," I told them, sick of them trying to hurry it along.
"You keep saying that," Ashton said. "But as we keep telling you, she's not gonna be single forever."
"I know, I know," I rolled my eyes. "You don't need to tell me how wonderful she is. I already know. I love her, remember?"
"We know," Michael laughed. "You only look at her like she's a goddess."
"In my eyes she is," I sighed.
"You're gross," Calum said bluntly, tossing his pillow at me.
"If by gross you mean hopelessly in love, then yes," I replied.
The boys all pretended to gag.
My gaze returned to Paris's content face.
I sighed again. "She's so beautiful."
"She really is extremely hot," Michael agreed with a nod.
"She's gorgeous," I corrected. "Not just hot."
"She is beauty, she is grace, she will punch you in the face," Calum quoted with a laugh.
We all chuckled, turning back to our phones.
"It is true, though," Ashton said after a moment.
"Except maybe the part about grace," Calum said thoughtfully.
"Yeah, she's actually pretty clumsy," Michael laughed.
"Her singing is graceful," I said, thinking about it.
The boys all nodded, agreeing with affirmative hums.
"I don't know why she's so shy about her singing," Calum frowned. "She's amazing."
"She just has no confidence," Ashton said.
"And anxiety," I reminded them.
"Oh yeah," Calum said. "I always forget she has anxiety."
"Same," Michael and Ashton agreed.
"She's really good at hiding it," Luke allowed. "But I can always tell."
"That's cause you've memorized everything about her better than the words to our songs," Calum said.
An idea sparked in my brain, and I quickly typed that down in notes. "Mind if I use that line?"
"Not at all," Calum said, looking curious.
"Got an idea for a song?" Michael asked, understanding.
I nodded. "I think it could be really good."
"Are you actually gonna play it, or are you just gonna keep it to yourself like your other songs about her?" Ashton asked.
"I haven't decided yet," I answered. "I'll let you know when it's done."
After a moment of silence, Ashton looked at me thoughtfully. "Do you think Paris writes songs?"
"She seems like the type," Calum acknowledged.
"She does," I said knowingly. "They're incredible."
"She let you read them?" Ashton asked, eyes popping.
"She seems like such a private person," Michael commented.
"She is," I said. "I walked into her room while she was staying at mine to talk to her and it was sitting on her bed while she was in the shower. She came back to find me reading it and I got her to sing one of them. It was heartbreakingly beautiful."
"Was it about Jake?" Calum asked hesitantly.
I nodded. "Yeah. You could tell all of her emotions went into it, and every other song she's ever written."
"You guys should co-write a duet," Ashton suggested.
"Yeah!" Calum and Michael chorused.
"We'll see. We've worked on that Good Girls remix, I think we'd work well together," I smiled slightly.
"You will-" Michael said. "Because you're in love."
"Well, I'm in love with her," I corrected.
"I think if you just asked-"
"We'll see," I repeated, causing them to groan.
"I don't wanna see," Michael complained. "I want the two of you to pull your heads out of your arses and confess your undying love for one another."
