"Oh my god I can't believe the show is in an hour!" I said as I pulled my outfit out of the closet of the dressing room.
It wasn't all that different from what I was already wearing, and the clothes were still mine, it was just a change of clothes to wear out there.
"It's crazy," Calum agreed.
The boys were already dressed in their assorted t shirts and black skinny jeans, which they easily slipped into without warning me first.
"We don't care if you see us naked," Michael had said. "It's going to happen at some point on the tour anyway."
"Nice outfit," Luke said to me, eying up my selection for the first night of tour.
It was a black t shirt reading "normal people scare me" and destroyed black skinny jeans which, coupled with my pair of silver-studded black converse and a few band bracelets, made for one hell of a combination.
"Thanks," I smiled, running my fingers over the fabric of the shirt fondly.
I looked up at the boys, sprawled on the couches of the dressing room.
"Can you guys all close your eyes?" I asked. "I have to change."
"You saw us naked!" Calum protested.
"Please?" I begged quietly.
They all nodded, closing their eyes and covering them for good measure.
I turned around, not looking to risk it, and quickly tugged off my red Twenty One Pilots tank top and ripped-at-the-knees black jeans, replacing them with the black shirt and completely torn up jeans.
"You can look!" I told them, spinning around and raking my fingers through my hair.
I strutted over to the table in front of the mirror, picking up my previously plugged in curler, creating perfect ringlets in the bottom half of my hair.
I attempted to evenly spray a layer of hairspray over my hair, but ended up sputtering on some that got into my mouth.
"Ew," I wrinkled my nose, setting down the hairspray bottle and fingering the silver hoop at the top of my right ear.
The boys laughed at me, prompting me to stick my tongue out at them as I did my make up.
When I was done, I dropped everything in my bag and turned to find all of the boys' gazes on me.
Their eyes dragged up my body slowly starting at my feet, getting progress larger as they went.
"What?" I asked nervously, twisting my fingers together.
"Nothing," Ashton shook his head.
"What is it?" I insisted.
"You just look so punk rock," Michael said, sounding in awe.
I laughed, twisting my spiked heart ring around my finger.
With my black and silver makeup, torn black skinny jeans, black tee, studded shoes, and dark jewelry, I wasn't surprised that those were the words he used to describe me.
"And those jeans..." Michael added.
"Showing a bit of skin," Calum whistled.
I rolled my eyes with a laugh. "Who are you, my mother?"
"Does she not like you wearing those jeans?" Calum asked curiously.
"Not really." I shrugged. "But she's never home anyway so..." I chuckled.
The boys frowned slightly, but didn't say anything, and carried on scrolling through their phones.
Before we knew it, the opening acts were done, and it a time for us to go out on stage.
I, needless to say, was freaking out.
"Breathe, okay, seriously, breathe," I whispered to myself as I stood just out of view of the crowd, behind the boys.
Luke reached back and squeezed my hand. "You'll do great," he assured me quietly with an encouraging smile.
I returned it with an anxious smile, my eyes flickering to the massive crowd.
"In 3,2,1!" Someone called, and we were being shoved forward onto the stage, and all of a sudden 50 million people were staring at me.
We all lined up at the front, holding off grabbing out instruments until we did our introductions.
"Hello Melbourne," Calum said into his mic with a grin after the initial screams died down.
More screams.
"We're here today with our friend Paris," Ashton said.
Then they cheered for me. For me. (Oh my god I causally died)
"We hope that's okay with you," Michael said. "Because she can get quite annoying."
I laughed, looking at Michael and replying with my mouth away from the mic. "I can get annoying?"
"Say it into the mic," Luke prompted.
I put my mouth up to the mic nervously.
"I can get annoying?" I repeated, hearing my voice ring across the stadium.
A collective laugh came from the crowd, causing a small smile to come to my face.
"She'll get funnier as the night goes on," Luke laughed. "She's kinda shy."
"A casual remix of She's Kinda Hot," I said with a grin.
"She's kinda shy though," Michael sang.
"I like it," Ashton declared.
"Okay well we should get started," Calum chuckled, shoving Ashton in the direction of the drum set.
I walked over to the rack of guitars, picking out a (totally rad) shimmery black electric one, and slinging the pink strap over my shoulder.
"I hope you guys don't mind," I said into my mic. "But I'll be doing a bit of guitar at the request of the boys." The crowd cheered.
"And vocals!" Luke said into his mic, his familiar black and white electric guitar slung over his body.
I blushed. "They come to hear you guys sing, don't you guys?"
The crowd cheered again.
"But you guys want to hear Paris sing too, right?" Calum added.
The crowd absolutely roared in response.
"I guess that's a yes," Michael laughed, coming to stand on my other side.
I blushed, chuckling.
"Are we ready?" Ashton called. After we all said yes, he went on: "this first song is called Jet Black Heart."
As the crowd cheered, we started the intro, and Michael began to sing.
As we came to the bridge, Luke pointed to me, and my eyes widened but I sang anyway.
"And the blood in my veins is made up of mistakes..."
As the song played out, we were able to hear the crowd better, the familiar screams of a stadium full of people filled my ears, and suddenly I knew the rush that famous musicians were always on about; it was thrilling.
"Well how was that for the first song of the tour?" Calum asked the crowd.
*cheers intensify*
"Wasn't she amazing?!" Luke said, gesturing to me.
The cheers got even louder.
I laughed in disbelief, blushing as I tucked a stray piece of hair behind my ear.
"The next song we're gonna do is a song called Fly Away, maybe you know it," Michael said to the joy of the crowd.
"Counting down these seconds, always second guessing..."
We played a whole set list of songs, some on the two albums, some not, a couple covers; a wide variety selected to please every fan.
There were many jokes made, a lot of crazy dancing, and some crowd interaction that was extremely fun.
All in all, it was everything you'd want in a 5SOS concert experience.
Afterwards, when we were back in the dressing room, changing into our other clothes and drinking water after the heat of the show, Luke asked me a question.
"So how was your first 5SOS concert?" He asked.
"First?" I scoffed with a laugh. "I did go see you guys in Toronto last year." (Hah I wish)
"Really?" Calum laughed.
"Rich parents who try to buy my affection, remember?" I laughed as I ran a brush through my curly hair.
"Riiiiiiiight," he recalled.
"But in all seriousness that concert was amazing," I said.
"What was your favourite song we played?" Ashton asked.
"She's Kinda Hot," I said. "SinCE YOU DIDN'T PLAY WHEREVER YOU ARE."
"We never play that," Calum chuckled.
"My point!" I said frustratedly, throwing my hands up in the air.
"Woah, chill," Michael laughed. "We can play it at the next show."
"Or you could put it on the next album along with Independence Day, If You Don't Know, Too Late, I've Got This Friend, Over and Over, and every other song you guys have that isn't on CD or iTunes," I huffed folding my arms.
"BEEP BEEP FANGIRL ALERT!" Calum screeched.
"BEEP BEEP DUH!" I mocked him, rolling my eyes.
The boys all laughed.
"I'm serious though, about the songs," I told them.
"We know," Luke chuckled. "That's why it's funny."
A/N: so three nights ago I went and saw Taylor Swift live in Toronto. Shawn Mendes opened for her, which I had been looking forward to just as much, but the line was so long to get in I missed his whole performance save half of Never Be Alone. I might have started to cry...
But Taylor put on an incredible show, and I got loads of Merch!
I was also able to take a trip to Hot Topic, so now I have two new 5SOS tees to my credit, as well as 5 new buttons (pins).
Maybe comment your concert experiences?
Love always, Mia xx
