Elise's POV
"No, mom, I'm sure I don't need housemaid. Aleksandra and I can take care of our apartment" I say one more time, hoping that my mother will finally understand that I can take care of myself.
"But a housemaid can clean your house or make you food" my mother keeps insisting.
"Are you suggesting than I can't cook" I ask wanting to tease my mother.
"Oh God, no! You know what, if you don't want a housemaid, fine, but stop teasing me" my mother says making me start laughing.
"How's dad" I ask her while I was opening a bottle of wine. With Aleksandra being in Saint Petersburg I was feeling lonely and a glass of wine could make my night better.
"You know, he's cheating on me with his books" she says making me smile at this thought. My dad loves to read and when I was a child he used to read me every night before go to bed. Now that I'm a grown-up I can say that I love books as much as he does.
"And that's one of the reasons you love him" I say smiling.
"How's Aleksandra. I didn't hear her voice during our conversation."
"She's in Russia, she had to solve something with her - inheritance" I answer not being able to ignore the knocking that was coming from the door. With my mother's voice still talking into my ear I went to the door wanting to make the one who was knocking to go away. But my intentions suddenly disappeared when my eyes met Marcel's.
"Mom, I'll call you back later" I say hanging the phone. I was looking at Marcel not knowing what to say.
"Aren't you going to let me in" he finally asks giving me the chance to star using my brain again.
"Yeah, sorry, come on in" I say before closing the door. "Aleksandra's not here, she had to go to Saint Petersburg."
"I know. I'm not here to see Aleksandra. I'm here to see you" he says looking straight into my eyes. I always loved his dark brown eyes.
"Oh -" I say breaking this intimidating eye contact.
"I know how you feel about me" he says stepping closer to the place I was standing.
"Marcel, look, we don't have to talk about this. Just forget about it" I say looking down at my feet.
"No, you don't understand. Since I found out I can't stop thinking about this. Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because it doesn't matter, okay? My feelings don't matter! Stop pretending like you care about me. We both know that we are 'friends' only because Aleksandra is your friend or whatever she is to you" I say a little bit too loud.
"I care about you! I always cared about you and I think I have feelings for you, Elise" he says making me realize how angry I was.
"Stop! Just stop and leave me alone" I yell at him not wanting to hear any of his lies.
"I didn't realized it until Aleksandra told me you slept with Marco. I know you didn't do it, but just the thought made me want to punch him in the face. Then I started to think why I was so jealous and I couldn't find another reason. I love you, Elise, I really do" he admits making me shiver. His eyes were glowing and he was waiting for my reaction.
"I won't be your second choice" I whisper to myself. "You don't feel that, you don't love me, you are confused" I say to him."
"No, I'm not, I do love you. When Marco told me that you are in love with me it just hit me. The love I'm feeling for you punched me in the face and told me to start accepting what I'm feeling" he continues to say.
