Seventeen

Demi got up the next morning normal time getting Kean ready for kindergarten and herself for meeting up with Joe for the morning, she was kind of nervous about it but she just brushed it off taking her son to kindergarten then heading straight back home for Joe to pick her up, she didn't know what he had planned but she hoped that she could get his mind away from Elliot who would be having his operation after lunch. Demi opened the door when she heard the doorbell echo throughout the house revealing Joe. He was even early this time.

"Hi." Demi greeted stepping out locking the door behind her.

"Hey, you okay?" Joe greeted back leading the way down the path towards his car, Demi answered his question asking how he was too but she could see how nervous he was about Elliot's operation, hoping that it would go well. She knew she would be the same if Kean was going through the same thing. They climbed into the car Joe pulling away after looking for oncoming traffic.

"Do you have a dog?" Demi questioned.

"Yeah, sorry. I tried to get the hair from the passenger seat but I couldn't get much off," Joe answered. "I don't know why she's so adamant to sit in the front anyway." Joe rolled his eyes making Demi giggle a little bit.

"Police dog?" Demi guessed Joe nodding his head.

"She's my best friend though, you can't help but get attached them when you spend all day with them," Joe begun. "I've had her since she was a puppy, she's three now. Her name is Tia." Demi smiled slightly but Joe couldn't see cause his eyes were on the road.

"Has she met Elliot yet?" Demi inquired Joe nodding his head passing her his phone making the screen light up. Her smile only got wider.

"That is adorable, I bet their best friends." Demi grinned keeping his phone so he could continue to concentrate, she didn't want to get him into trouble with his fellow colleagues because he looked as if he was on his phone.

"They are, she's really good with him. She knows to be gentle, she's a big dog so she could easily hurt him." Joe approved as they continued to talk getting to know one another.

Joe and Demi hung around the mall a little bit before they headed to a diner where they could get some lunch. It had been nice for both of them to get to know one another but it still didn't feel real to either of them that they would be having a baby together. That they would be involved with each other for the rest of their lives.

"So this friend of yours, how long have you been friends?" Demi questioned as she stirred her hot chocolate in attempt to cool it down.

"We've known each other since school but we're trying a relationship out now." Joe admitted watching her hands. Demi tried not to look so disappointed, she couldn't deny the feelings she was starting to form for the man in front of her. She thought maybe he could be the guy which would help her move on from Liam.

"Any reason why now?" Demi inquired.

"I don't know, we just sort of kissed and it felt right I guess. It may not work out but I'm sure we'll stay friends either way, I care about her a lot." Joe stated.

"I bet that's nice." Demi stated Joe nodding his head.

"It is, I don't really get on with guys much. They annoy me," Demi couldn't help but laugh. "I have three brothers too."

"Really? I'm an only child, I always said I wasn't going to make Kean an only child because of how bored I got and so on but I guess that's changing now." Demi breathed, she forgot she was pregnant sometimes. She couldn't feel much at the moment. She didn't feel any different.

"Can I ask about Liam's father or is it too much?" Joe questioned Demi holding back her tears.
