Joe wondered into his son's hospital room smiling as he saw Emily sat on the edge of the bed with their son in her arms rocking him gently. He made his way over pecking her lips gently then kissing Elliot's head who still had the mask around his mouth helping him breathe but he was awake, it was clear Emily was worried about him and so was he. It was hard to think about his two and a half month old son going for a operation.
"It's not fair." Emily mumbled Joe sighing sitting down next to her wrapping his arm around her smiling as she leaned her head on his chest.
"I know but after this I'm sure he'll go back to being a healthy little baby." Joe assured her kissing the side of her head but his eyes were on his son who seemed to enjoy being in his mother's arms unaware of what was going on.
"I hope so, I want my baby boy back," Emily kissed his forehead gently before looking up at Joe. "How was your morning with Demi?"
"It was fun, I can see us becoming good friends." Joe admitted.
"That's good, you are bringing a baby into the world."
"I'm only just getting used to being a father to Elliot, bringing another baby into the mix will take some doing getting used to." Joe admitted.
"I'm sure you'll get used to it." Emily praised.
"I'll have to, I can't do anything to change it, I'm having another baby." Joe couldn't help but smile Emily standing up laying Elliot down in his father's arms.
"I'm happy for you," She stated pecking his lips gently. "I'm going to the bathroom, I won't be long." Joe smiled watching as she walked away leaning down kissing Elliot's head as he remained happy in his father's arms.
It wasn't long later that the two parents had to say goodbye to Elliot so he could go for his operation. They knew he would come out a better baby so it wasn't too worrying for them but he was still their son and would worry. They had all faith in the doctors that they knew what they were doing. They were sat in the room Elliot would be brought back to on the couch, Joe had his arm around Emily as they spoke getting their mind of what their son could be going through.
"Have you worked out with Demi yet what's happening when the baby arrives?" Emily questioned Joe shaking his head as he laughed slightly.
"She's not that far along yet," Joe answered. "But I suppose I'll visit as much as I can around work then when he or she is a little older I can take them for the day and eventually the weekend. They'd get to know Elliot as well as Kean."
"Kean is her son right?" Joe nodded his head.
"I think she said he was five, he's at kindergarten anyway." Joe answered leaning back on the couch but kept his arm around her. He would like to think Emily could get along with Demi, he would have to be friends with Demi to welcome a baby into the world. He didn't like the idea of raising a son or daughter with her and they were fighting or not speaking. Emily meant a lot to him and he wanted them to get along.
"I don't even want to think about Elliot's first birthday never mind sending him to kindergarten." Emily complained making Joe laugh kissing the side of her head.
"He'll grow up quickly, we'll have to make the most of what we've got." Joe breathed not liking the idea of him growing up either but they knew it had to happen and were looking forward to seeing what kind of boy he became. Joe was looking forward to playing sports with him, he would take him to any practices he wanted to even if he wanted to do dance. He wouldn't be the type of father to stop him from doing what he wanted. He wanted to see a smile on his son's face not see him upset.
