In reality I've probably been lying in bed for three or four hours, but I only drifted off to sleep in the last thirty minutes or so. You can imagine my irritation when I feel something poke my cheek and disturb my nap. I frown as I swat the hand away and not ten seconds pass before the same hand starts to shake me by my shoulder. I give up and open my eyes to see Jason sitting at the side of the bed. "Can't you let me sleep? I'm tired." I complain. He strokes my head as I bury my face into the pillow. "You didn't answer my calls or texts so I got worried." I hear him say. "How was it?" "Seriously? Not even an apology for waking me up?" "I'm sorry baby, I'm just keen to know how it went." He pulls my hand out from under the pillow and kisses it, using his thumb to run along my knuckles.

"I kind of yelled at him. Only because he acted as if he didn't do anything wrong. It turns out that everyone who worked for thingie that escaped got caught, including the guy who took Keith, they're all getting a sentence soon, they have a lot to be put away for." "What about Keith?" "He's a demon...but no one mentioned him getting any punishment." "So what? He gets to get away with what he did to you?" "No one has the heart to accuse a six year old of anything. Like they even care about me." "I care about you." I chuckle softly under my breath. "He found out everything yet he didn't even apologise to me for treating me like shit." "Who? Nick?" He asks. I nod into the pillow. "I don't even care anymore." "Are you glad that I made you go?" This question makes me sigh. "Jason we'll talk more about it later, okay? Please just let me sleep now. I'm tired. "I finished up today early to get home for dinner." "You'll have to starve for tonight." Babe, don't do that to me." He whines. "Cook for yourself." I block out his words and eventually he gives up and leaves the room, probably to cook his own food. He's more than capable at cooking but if he's not busy then he just gets too lazy to do it.

I wake up later in the day feeling refreshed and relaxed, which makes me glad that I took a nap to give my mind a break from all of this stress.

I sit up to see that Jason is brushing his teeth in the bathroom. "What time is it?" I ask. He spits into the sink before answering. "Quarter past 10." "What did you end up making for yourself?" "Sushi." He surprises me. "We have seaweed?" I laugh. "It was the only thing I could be bothered to make." He claims. "I'll probably bring some to work tomorrow for lunch. Promise you'll make me something for dinner when I get home tomorrow?" "Fine, I will. Stop whining." "Thank you for cleaning, by the way. I never have the time myself, I appreciate it." "It's okay." He kisses my forehead before getting into bed. "I'm going to brush my teeth." "I know it's late but maybe eat something?" He urges. "It's okay. I wasn't hungry anyway." "Are you sure? What did you eat today?" "Stop being my dad. Skipping one meal isn't going to kill me." Lies. All I ate today was one banana. "We both promised to eat more healthy together." He reminds me. "Yeah, yeah." I wave him off as I leave the room and have one of the sushi rolls Jason had made earlier and nod to myself. He sure knows how to make good sushi.

After I finish eating I go into the bathroom to shower quickly before I brush my teeth and change into sleepwear to be more comfortable. When I'm done Jason was already fast asleep, he must've had an exhausting day to be so tired. I, on the other hand, am wide awake thanks to my fairly long nap. I stay up on my phone, going on social media and looking through old photos of Keith and I from months ago.
I need to let go.
To distract myself I convince myself to do a little online shopping because what girl doesn't cheer herself up by shopping?
I'm on the Louie Vuitton website when a certain handbag catches my eyes and I gasp. I think I'm in love. I shake Jason's shoulder and he groans. "What?" He barely whispers. "Babe I found this really cute handbag, what do you think?" "What? You're shopping at this time?!" He seems shocked. "What do you think?" I ignore his question and show him my phone so he can see the bag. He shakes his head and sighs. "It looks fine." "Should I get it?" He faces his back to me and says "If you want it, buy it." "It's almost five grand Jason, I don't know. That's why I woke you up." I tell him. "Just get it, use your American Express card." He mumbles. I shrug. "Alright then."
