Layla POV

I was pinned to the ground. I felt so helpless. So worthless. I couldn't even defend myself. Now this has happened to me. It's my own fault. That's all I could think about. I deserved this and I hated myself for it. Jae was a lot stronger than me. Practically beating my up, punching me continuously. I got the odd punch or kick back in but each time he hurt me, it weakened me. There was no hope.

My jeans and t-shirt practically ripped to shreds as he had clawed at me when I tried to run away. I still kicked and screamed, trying to get away again. He held my still slightly damp hair tightly and pulled me away before kicking me again. But I just wouldn't give in. I couldn't. Even if it meant me dying of blood loss after I kill him. I was going to.

Daryl POV

Nearing the cabin. Another gunshot. It was almost in my sights when suddenly, more footsteps. I launched myself behind a tree. The man had light blonde hair with bangs and was running through the forest. With Layla's crossbow.

"Lace! Lacey!" He yelled every so often with each few steps he took. He was getting closer and closer to the tree I was behind, I needed to act. He looked quite young, 'I could probably take him out' I thought to myself. He was about a meter in front of the tree now, facing the opposite direction to me, when I made my move. I leapt out from behind the tree, my knife in my hand as I restrained his arms with my one hand and put a knife to his throat with the other.

"Hey... Hey... Man, take it easy." He stuttered shakily.

"Where d'ya get the crossbow?!" I shouted as I pressed the blade harder against his neck.

"I found it!" He claimed quickly. I mean, he could be telling the truth. Say Layla got swarmed, dropped it then he found it. I didn't believe it though because I know it's unlikely it would happen and even if it did, she wouldn't lose her crossbow.

"I know your lying man. What's all the screaming? Gunshot? Take me to it." I shouted louder and made a slight scratch with my knife. I pushed him along quickly towards the cabin, taking Layla's crossbow and a pistol he had off him on the way.

"There," He stammered as we came to the clearing where the cabin was. It sounded like Layla inside the cabin. She was yelling, shouting and screaming horrible things at someone as I heard things being knocked over from inside. She had to be fighting someone.

"Sorry man," I whispered before knocking him out too, eliminating the threat in case he was with whomever Layla was fighting. I wanted to call I wanted to shout to her and tell her I was here but it was too risky, anything could have been going on. Instead I quickly hid all the things I had with me bar my crossbow and knife then looked through a small window on the cabin wall, keeping myself hidden. I couldn't see anything bar the one wall because of how small it was but I did hear Layla's yelps turn to more of a sob, spluttering: "No, no, no, no, no," Repeatedly though the sniffs.

That was it. I loaded my crossbow and got to the door, kicking it in. The door collapsed and everyone in the room froze. Layla backed up, sitting in the corner. Clothes torn, blood on her face and sobbing horrendously, fighting some dude who had bloody knuckles and a smug grin.
