Chapter 9

Simon's POV

The next morning...

My doorbell has been ringing nonstop for five minutes straight now. Whoever it is doesn't seem to want to leave. I force myself to get out of bed at this somewhat early hour (7 A.M.) to answer the door. My annoyance fizzles when I see Demi, but concern takes its place. She instantly begins to sob in my arms. I lead her to the couch and gently lie her down on it. "Demi, talk to me darling. What's wrong?" She wipes away another round of tears.

"Wilmer called off our engagement and threw me out of our place. I only have two days at most to find a new place to live. Where do I even find the money to do so? I don't even get paid again until next week. This is a disaster. My life is in shambles. How could I be so damn stupid?" She reaches for a knife on the counter. I grab it from her and throw it across the room. "No Demi! You will not harm your beautiful self. You can live here for free. You can stay here as long as you want. I can even move your things from Wilmer's myself so you don't have to see him again, at least for awhile. How does that sound?"

She sniffles. "That sounds good. Thank you Simon. I don't how I got so lucky to have such an amazing person in my life. In fact, you're an angel in my eyes." I blush at that. "I'm no angel, but thank you Demi. Now are all of your things packed?" She nods. "Good. Then, I'll swing by Wilmer's to pick them up. I'll be back soon. Feel free to make yourself breakfast if you're hungry or if you're exhausted, just relax and I'll make something when I get back. Whatever you want to do is fine." I kiss her on the forehead and head out.

I drive as fast as I can without getting a speeding ticket. I'm at Wilmer's place within seven minutes. When I get there, I pound on the door so hard the glass nearly breaks. A hunger over Wilmer opens the door. "What the hell do you want you fucking old pervert?" He says with slurred words. I sock him in the face. "How dare you treat Demi like shit and throw her out just like that? Demi should be the one still living here, not you." Wilmer swings back at me and hits me on the cheek. "This is my home. I can choose who lives here and who doesn't. My name is on most of the bills. Therefore, I have every right to throw that skank out. Besides she never loved me. She apparently only wants men who have gray hair, small dicks, and are old enough to be her father."

"Age is just a number you asshole. At least Demi would be happy, safe, and actually loved by me. You never provided Demi with any of those feelings." Wilmer makes a sound of disgust. "I really don't give a shit. You took her from me. Don't think I will try to get her back because I plan on doing so. You won't know when, but when I do show up one day, you will regret what you've done deeply." I laugh a menacing laugh. "Oh you bet your pathetic ass I won't. I'm not afraid of you. The only reason why you're able to say the things that you've said is because you've had a good five bottles of vodka in you. So here's what we're going to do. You're going to stay the hell away from Demi or else we will get law officials involved in this. Understood?" Wilmer doesn't respond, but simply sticks his tongue out like a child.

Without doing anything else I regret, I leave his house without another word with Demi's belongings. I just want to get home to Demi so I can help her feel at home as well.
