Chapter 39
Demi's POV
A month later...
It's been a month since Simon pulled his stunt at the wedding already. Man how the time flies. Simon's been really great. He's been going to all of his meetings and hasn't had any type of alcohol once. Nick and I talked a lot last night. We agreed to let him come over today so him and I could talk about the next step.
1 hour later..
Nick runs to to the door to let Simon in. They nod to each other and Simon comes over to me cautiously like an animal determining whether or not to go after it's prey. "Hey Demi. You look lovely as always." I take a step closer to him. "I've really missed you Simon. It's pained me to have barely seen you this past month. I really want to talk about things." I turn to Nick. "Could we have some privacy? If I need you, I'll shout for you." He nods and makes his way to room.
"Simon, I am so proud of the progress you've made this month. You've been doing everything I've wanted you to do and more. I want to come home, but I don't know if it's too soon or not. What do you think?" Simon wraps his arms around me. "I want you to come home. I promise you that you will never see me the way I was at the wedding reception ever again. In fact, if that ever happened again, I want you to leave me." I take a step back and grab the wall. "Simon, how could you even say something like that? I can't bear the thought of ever leaving you."
He looks at me stone cold serious. "I mean it Demi. I'm doing everything I can to be the man that you deserve, but if I ever enter that state again and hurt you in any way, I want you to leave me. Also, I laid a hand on you, I want you to send Nick after me to kick my ass. I don't ask for much so please promise me you'll do this. Okay?" I sigh. "Okay I promise. Just take me home." He begins to smile. "My pleasure." Nick brings out my belongings. He sees us to the door. I hug him and thank him for letting me stay at his place. Nick gently grabs my arm. "Be careful Dem." I squeeze his hand. "I will. I promise. See you soon Nick."
