It's Complicated

Chapter 8: Alone

I'm so relieved to see Daniel waiting for me. Part of me didn't think he'd actually come. It's been a few weeks since I'd seen him last & to be honest, I couldn't contain my excitement. I was so glad to be back with him!

"Hey babe! Get in the car, let's leave this hell hole!"

Those words were like music to my ears, I didn't care where we went or even how far we went I just wanted to leave & forget about my life for a while. I decide to text my mom so she doesn't freak out like last time.

I sent:
Gonna stay the night at Katie's, be back tomorrow night. Love you!

I then remember I have to let Katie know I'm using her as a decoy. I just wanted to spend as much time with Daniel as possible, who knows when I'll get the chance to again!

I text Katie:
Hey KatieKat, I told my mom I was staying at your house tonight but I'm hanging with a friend she doesn't know of. If you want I can drop by whenever if not I'll stay with my friend.

Katie texts back:
Either one is fine, Liv is spending the night so if you stop by it'll be the three of us! Be safe AnnieBanannie! I love you! Call me if you need anything!

THIS was why I loved Katie. She didn't ask questions she just wanted me to be safe. That's a true friend right there. I think I may stop at Katie's I haven't seen Liv in a while & I kind of actually miss her brattiness.

I tell Daniel that we have all the time in the world since I told my mom I was staying at Katie's, he looked at me & smiled. It was like we were hanging out for the first time again.

"Well, what do you want to do? My family has an apartment in town if you wanna go there, no one is there right now. We usually keep it vacant for family members to stay at when they come visit. We can watch movies & order takeout food!"

Honestly, it all sounded so great. I nodded my head yes & he grabbed my hand. It felt like we were a couple. The emotions I felt were amazing. You could feel the chemistry between us. I didn't want this moment to end. I felt so happy & carefree.

We get to the apartment & Daniel tells me he wants to carry me in. Isn't that what married people do? I laugh & tell him it's fine. He picks me up & I can't help but blush. This is the first time we've been so close together, it's awkward & weird but it feels so right.

We throw ourselves on the couch, which is super-de-duper comfortable & decide to look for a movie to watch.

"Well what do you wanna watch? We can watch anything! We can order movies too if you'd like."

I don't know what I wanna watch, I'm just focused on him.

"Um, how about The Longest Ride or The Purge?"

"That's quite an interesting selection,"

He laughs, it's so cute.

"But yeah we can watch The Longest Ride. Let me just order a pizza & then we can start the movie!"

I feel giddy & almost childlike with the way I'm excited. I can't contain myself & I can't stop smiling. It all feels so great. I feel so free & alive. I can't believe this was happening!

We put on the movie & lay back on the couch. Daniel brought blankets, one for each of us. He's into the movie, but I'm into him. He doesn't notice but I keep staring at his mouth. Ugh, how I just wanna kiss his stupid face! He sees me, oh crap! I try to look away but he's already seen me! He laughs & says,

"You know I can see you staring at me right?"

I blush. I can't help it. I wanna play it cool but I also want him to know what the heck is up!

"Well duh, I've been waiting for you to kiss me since you picked me up!"

Oh my gosh, why did I say that? Way to play it cool Annie, way to freaking go!

"Oh is that so?"

Daniel sits up & starts to lean over towards me, he has one hand on my thigh & the other on my face. His hands are rough but his touch his soft, it's such a serene feeling. He begins to lean in & I close my eyes & prepare for a kiss.

*ding, dong*
The doorbell rings right as he goes to kiss me. Just my luck! It's the pizza delivery guy & oh gosh the food smells so great. I begin to eat my food & I seriously feel like I'm rushing. I have to make it to Katie's at a reasonable time in order to pull my whole plan off.

"Daniel, don't forget you have to drop me off at Katie's in an hour!"

"No problem babe! I'm gonna shower & then we can take off to Katie's. We can stop by the store if you want snacks!"

My heart melted when he called me babe. I felt so happy. No guy has ever given me the time of day, but I really didn't mind because I was always busy with gym & school.

*bzz, bzz*

I hear a phone ring, I check but it isn't mine. It keeps going off & it won't stop! I look everywhere & notice it's Daniel's phone. Someone named "Livvy" was calling him, my heart instantly sank. I reluctantly answered the phone.

"Hi, this is Daniel's phone he's busy at the moment. But I can have him call you back when he's available, if that's fine?"

I wait to get a response but all I hear is a gasp & the phone line disconnects.
