Chapter 43: Lake Day

It's been a few weeks since I started taking control of things again. I'd say I'm doing pretty great. My routines at the gym have become easier, I literally feel like I'm floating through the air! My relationship with Daniel is the same really, I mean, he's super protective of me & I like it. I also don't talk to Katie anymore outside of the gym, well really, I don't talk to anyone. A little while back Daniel & I had a talk, he basically told me I needed to cut people out of my life, especially those who don't approve of us. So far it's worked for me. I know what you're wondering, have I talked to Kim & Dan? After a few days of ignoring them, they stopped.. They haven't called or text in over a week. I guess they don't care anymore.

Today is Saturday & I'm spending the day with Daniel at the lake with a few of his friends & their girlfriends. It'll be nice to surround ourselves with positivity & people who actually like us as a couple! I was wearing a coral flounce bandeau top & matching cheeky bottoms from Victoria's Secret with a black kimono cover up. & while my swimsuit didn't make me feel "sexy" it made me feel better & confident about my body. It made me feel like my hard work has paid off being that this swimsuit looks amazing on me. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I couldn't help it.

Daniel & I meet up at the lake with his friend Jarred & his girlfriend Callie, Dominic & his girlfriend Addison & Lauren plus her boyfriend who we didn't know the name of. Things were good, we went tubing & swimming & the guys cooked. About 4 hours into our lake day festivities, Lauren gets a call from her boyfriend who says he's on the way. "I'm so excited for you all to meet him," she says, "he's really nice & super hot. You probably don't know him because he's from a little ways out, probably near Annie I think but, I just know you guys will love him!"

I don't even think the guys paid attention to her, but Callie, Addison, Lauren & I all laid down to tan & talk. "So, what's he like? Describe him to us!" I say with the utmost curiosity. She giggles, her face turns into a soft pink color. "Well he's like 6'3", he mainly plays water polo but he plays most sports for recreationally. Um, he has siblings & oh he can drive now, he's got himself his own car! His family is so great!" I was really happy for my friend, I was glad she has someone who makes her radiate with joy! "So, what's his name?" I ask as I nudge her with my shoulder while Callie & Addison eagerly listen along. "His name is Brennan!" The girls laugh & cheer & begin to make jokes while my mind runs wild. I ask nervously,  "Wait, Brennan? His siblings are Kate & Ryan?" She stops talking with the girls & furrows her eyebrows at me while making a concerned face, "Yeah, why? Do you know him?" I immediately become overwhelmed with anxiety. I can't say anything but just sighing out loud.

"Annie, are you okay?" Addison asks as she comes towards me with a cold water. I open it & take a sip, the coldness of the liquid soothes my throat. "Well, for now at least. Once Lauren's boyfriend gets here, well that'll be a different story, my friends." My friends try to keep me calm, but I know things are going to get hectic really fast. Lauren hugs & holds me, "I'm sorry Annie, I would've never invited Brennan if I knew." I can't blame her, she didn't know. It wasn't anyone fault, it was just my terrible luck. "Don't apologize, it isn't your fault. Hopefully Daniel can be mature. I just don't want him to cause a scene."

The food is done & we're all sitting down together eating food. There's so much of it, internally I scream. I try my best to eat normal around my friends so there aren't any concerns but sometimes, especially days like this, it's extremely hard. "Aren't get some more food?" Dominic asks as he piles on fajitas & ribs onto his plate. "I'm good, plus I've eaten a lot of snacks today!" He shrugs his shoulder & continues to pile food onto his plate while the rest of us laugh. Everything was going well, it was fine & everyone was having a good time. Maybe today would end up good afternoon, I mean it's been a while since Brennan last text Lauren so we're not even sure he'll show up.
